Hmm, perhaps something to air when Cavemen flops.

-Wanna Bet on ABC: ABC has ordered six episodes of a new game show called Wanna Bet?, which will feature contestants gambling on whether or not they can perform certain stunts. The series is expected to air within the 2007-08 season.
"Wanna Bet?" has been running in Europe long before "Dog Eat Dog" (which in its original UK incarnation was built more around mental contests than stunts and was infinitely more intelligent). The German version only runs once a month for two hours and kills the competition every time on Saturday nights (the German version of "Idol" was airing on Saturdays and took the week off when "Bet?" came on). The British version was a solid hit series. From all indications, the kind of stunts that "Wanna Bet?" does are very spectacular or just insanely complicated and the show just might work over here. It helps to have Ant and Dec, who are *the* hosts in the UK and might be able to successfully bring their chemistry over here. I wouldn't pooh pooh this show until you've actually seen it.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed Ant and Dec on the special World Idol a few years ago.

I'm not ruling out that possibility, but look at every single Reality concept that ABC does. They always seem to be concepts already done on other networks already except for Dancing With The Stars and The Bachelor that's the only ones that have taken off. Let's look at a quick history (off the top of my head) I'm A Celebrity... - Survivor The One - American Idol The Benefactor - The Apprentice Celebrity Impersonator - Last Comic Standing and know there probably are others I just am missing...

Actually, Wife Swap was on ABC first and Trading Spouses has lasted. Supernanny is a copycat of Nanny 911, which debuted on Fox first and whose Nannies are much more fun, if only because of the beginning with the Nanny Central segments and that hilarious butlet guy. quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: You would think nets would figure out that rip-offs of successful shows don't work, much less rip-offs of unsuccessful shows.

This isn't a new project. ABC first announced this back in December 2006 and was ordered to pilot back in March - WANNA BET? (ABC, New!) - Phil Gurin ("The Weakest Link") is developing a domestic take on the popular German variety/game show of the same name. The project mixes celebrity interviews and musical performances with segments featuring everyday people betting they can pull off bizarre or extraordinary stunts. The celebs then wager if the person can complete the stunt and then must do it themselves if they are incorrect. The U.S. version however will have the contestants playing for actual money. No details beyond that were released. Gurin will executive produce the project via his the Gurin Co. The news marks the second time "Bet" has been imported to the U.S., the first being CBS, via producer Gary Grossman, who did a one-time special based on the format in 1993.

I believe Dancing with The Stars was also imported fro the UK, along with Supernanny. So I guess these are bad concepts as well because ABC is involved.

Thank you for noting that Zedman. You have really been the info man around here lately. Careful, Travis might get jealous. quote: Originally posted by Zedman2: This isn't a new project. ABC first announced this back in December 2006 and was ordered to pilot back in March -
