In a recent interview, which can be found on eurweb.com, Cedric The Entertainer talked about his untitled sitcom that was taped last October for ABC.

"It's a very funny family situational comedy," he described. "I'm very excited about it. As soon as we get this writers' strike done we can get back to it. I'm looking forward to going back to television. I have small kids and the last films I've done have been three months in Ireland, three months in Vancouver, three months in Shreveport so I was just missing a lot of life. Plus, it's the opportunity to put some African-American faces on television, but the idea was for me to be at home where I can just go to work and be a part of my kids' lives."

Cedric says that, once the strike is over - which it is - the show will resume production. Since the pilot has already been taped, does this mean the show has been picked up? Or what?

This has been one of the shows that have been floating around on various sites that ABC is high on. Lets hope that it and Damon Waynes family sitcoms get picked up for Tuesdays at 9 leading into BL at 10!

Let's hope it does, because if I remember correctly, Melissa Peterman was in the Cedric the Entertainer sitcom and she's one of my favorite comedic actresses. She could use her own show, but still I really hope that it is in fact picked up and they film episodes quickly.

Yes, Melissa Peterman is in the pilot. That's why I'm interested in it, too! I run www.melissapeterman.net - by the way. I would love if she had her own show, but until then, this sitcom doesn't sound that bad!

In late December, ABC extended the contracts on the entire cast. Though they haven't formally started on it, that is a sign of continued interest in the project.

It'll get picked up for the name alone and the fact that it adds diversity to an almost all white lineup. That being said, its a very thin concept and I don't know how a whole series can be based around it.
