I think the plan for PD, as well as DSM, is to completely re-launch them, as if they were new shows. If that's the case, I don't see the problem with the long break. Existing viewers will hopefully be happy to see it, and it may get new viewers who think it's a new show...

I think it is a bad idea, because most people who have wanted to see these shows have and have decided whether or not they like them. Others who just watch them as casual viewers might not make the effort to return with the shows when they come back in the fall. Unless PD and DSM get good lead-ins next fall they are probably going to tank. DSM was already going down hill during the last few episodes and PD ratings were never stealer to begin with, considering the budget for the show. I think they will both only get one more season and PP might be the only one to live on a little bit long. However, PP is also going to find new viewers as well. I am not a fan of either of these 3 shows so maybe I am a little biased. Look at what happened to OR and MiT when they took them off the air for a long period of time, I think it will be a repeat with those show next yr.

I think they're gonna make Pushing Daisies more procedural.

I think they could relaunch both shows; for Dirty Sexy Money, they'd have to move it to Sundays at 10pm after Desperate Housewives (Brothers & Sisters should probably then move to air after Private Practice). And for Pushing Daisies, the net would have to somehow pair it with DWTS; most likely on Tuesday (maybe DWTS Results/Pushing Daisies/Boston Legal or New Drama).
So essentially, if both shows are given much larger lead-ins, then I think its completely worth is. Especially since Pushing Daisies was considered the best new series of the fall and Dirty Sexy Money was up there too.
