All they have to do is implement one of the lineups here and they should be in good shape...
See I actually disagree. Several of these lineups imo would result in lower ratings especially those with two new Wednesday dramas in the fall.
I don't know mushu -- while generally it's not wise to have too many new shows on the same night, ABC has been able to launch multiple new shows successfully on several occasions -- in fact, some of their bigger successes of the past few years have been like that. In fact, last year they launched three new shows on Wednesday and they did just fine -- solid in fact, for a while. The only problem with the Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money combination was that none of them was really strong enough to anchor the night and keep viewers coming back, but they can each be solid shows with the right support. Also, LOST was launched on a Wednesday with no lead-in @ 8pm, and I think that it had a second new show on that night. And on Sundays, the year Desperate Housewives became a smash hit, it was a new show followed by another new show, Boston Legal, and then yet another new show, Grey's Anatomy.
So my bottom line is that the strategy can work, give the right shows, and I think that both Life on Mars and Section 8 can hold their own until January, and then become even stronger when LOST can join them for a very strong Wednesday lineup.
In my opinion, part of the reason why Housewives launched so solidly was the suddenly strong lead in with EXM: Home Edition. BL and Greys certainly fed off of Housewives early. I think had ABC simply moved a returning hit to Wed. at 10pm this past fall (either Men in Trees or October Road) then they would've had stronger results right away just because more emphasis could've been put on the other 2 new shows. DSM then could've aired on Thursday post-Greys. Mondays at 10 would've been another good slot for a new show this past fall.
My schedule is very different especially with Monday @ 10:00 pm!! I JUST HAVE MONDAY FOR NOW....TUESDAY COMES SOON
Starting Septermber 22, 2008 Monday 8:00 pm- Dancing With The Stars 9:30 pm- Samatha Who? 10:00 pm- Scrubs (Network Change and Renewal) (Hopefully Will Happen-Has Been In Talks) 10:30pm- Untitled Damon Wayans Series (NEW SERIES) (If it is picked up|it looks like it would be good)
It seems a little early for all these preditictions. I'm not sure of any pilots that are being considered for next fall but what the hay. Here is my ideas for ABC.
MONDAY 8:00 - Dancing with the Stars 9:30 - Samantha Who 10:00 - NEW SERIES
Dancing with the Stars is a mainstay on Mondays and Samantha Who fits perfectly out of it. I know there will not many new series offered this fall but the Monday 10:00 timeslot seems like a pretty good slot to offer something new. The rest of the night is pretty stable.
TUESDAY 8:00 - Superanny 9:00 - Dancing with the Stars 10:00 - Pushing Daisies
Supernanny is a great show to gather an audience especially the DWTS audience. When DWTS premiered a few summers back, Supernanny repeats aired before it and was averaging around 8 million viewers. Its a great way to start the night. Pushing Daisies is well loved by it's viewers and with a strong lead-in and a little TLC, more and more people will find this well written series.
WEDNESDAY 8:00 - NEW SITCOM 8:30 - NEW SITCOM 9:00 - Private Practice 10:00 - NEW SERIES
With NBC airing nothing too competitive and CBS's crime shows beginning to wear thin, this is the perfect night for ABC to take the most risks. ABC needs to focus on creating some sitcom hits. ABC has created some of the most well beloved family sitcoms of all time. Why should they stop? If the writing, cast, and acting is good and the network stands behind it so will viewers. There is an audiece out there!!! The sitcoms then lead into last falls #1 new hit, Private Practice. A new drama compatible with and following PP will fit perfectly.
Ugly Betty fits well in this timeslot but I must admit its getting old. Behind the scene some changes need to be made. Maybe a new character or a juicy new storyline. But something to get the buzz going again. With less new series to worry about ABC can focus on improving some of its older series. Greys is perfect here followed by Dirty Sexy Money. DSM has a great cast and a great way of storytelling. Seems like a perfect fit out of Greys.
FRIDAY 8:00 - Boston Legal 9:00 - Womans Murder Club 10:00 - 20/20
I believe Boston Legal would be a great way to help viewers rediscover Friday night television. BL delievers a great demo and the audiece for this show is home on Friday nights. This would be the perfect lead-in for Womans Murder Club and would most likey help WMC deliever a stronger demo. WMC is also good on builing on its leadin in viewership.
A very strong night. A family show to give EMHE a break in the spring would be nice. Maybe Oprah's Big Give? We'll see how it does. The rest of the night is very strong.
mid-season LOST The Bachelor Wife Swap Miss/Guided ? According to Jim (I'd perfer not to renew but who knows what ABC is thinking)
SUMMER Dance War Just For Laughs The Next Best Thing
JFL performed surprisingly decent last summer and summer is where it belongs. Same with the NBT. Dance War did okay this past winter but I believe it would be a strong player in the summer.

mid-season LOST The Bachelor Wife Swap Miss/Guided ? According to Jim (I'd perfer not to renew but who knows what ABC is thinking)
I like this schedule but lets have Brothers and Sisters move to Wed. at 10 to help out Private Practice and have a new drama post-Housewives. Housewives has had a pretty decent run when it comes to launching new shows. Replacing Dancing at midseason should be the Bachelor and Wife Swap with perhaps Lost filling Wed. at 9 during midseason and Private Practice and B&S sharing 10pm then ala Prison Break/SCC was supposed to this season for Fox. While I really want Boston Legal to remain on Tuesdays, I am okay with it moving to Friday as long as it has a decent pairing in WMC and 20/20.
Honestly moving Brothers and Sisters after PP is not a bad idea. I just hate to move it beacuse it is such a great lead-out of Desperate Housewives. A move like that would definitly bring some stability to Wednesdays.

I like this schedule but..
1. Pushing Daisies at 10? It's a family show 2. Dirty Sexy Money is DOA 3. 3 new shows on Wednesday are too risky
Looking at the schedule above, I'd move Brothers & Sisters to Tuesday at 10pm. It would be good counterprogramming to SVU and a likely crime drama from CBS...plus it would fit very well out of DWTS. ABC should try something new out of Desperate Housewives, that audience will be available on Sunday night since football pretty much has the same audience every week on NBC.

Maybe ABC needs to move B&S beacause like Marc explains all the time, that was NBC's problem. They had Friedns, Frasier, ER, Law & Order, and Will & Grace for all those years and never found the next generation of sitcoms or any fresh dramas. They just kept the their lineup as is for the most part. ABC has to use that large platform to find another new hit.
So what about
MONDAY 8:00 - Dancing with the Stars 9:30 - Samantha Who 10:00 - NEW SERIES
TUESDAY 8:00 - NEW SITCOM 8:30 - NEW SITCOM 9:00 - Dancing with the Stars 10:00 - Brothers & Sisters
Monday 8:00- Dancing With The Stars 9:00- Samantha Who? 9:30- Scrubs (Network Premiere) 10:00- The Bachelor
Tuesday 8:00- "UNTITLED CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER PROJECT" 8:30- According To Jim (New Timeslot) 9:00- Dancing With The Stars [Results Show] 10:00- "LEAP"
*Leap is a family, multi-generational drama starring Goldie Hawn
Wednesday 8:00- Pushing Daisies 9:00- Private Practice 10:00- Brothers & Sisters (New Timeslot)
*B&S seems stable enough that it could move and that DH could make a new(er) show do well
ABC needs to utilize post-Housewives. B&S is honestly losing a ton of the lead in. Also, I think Pushing Daisies would be okay at 10pm, especially after Dancing. If people are worried about it, perhaps Tuesdays at 8 would work better with Supernanny going to 10pm. I don't think PD would be overly compatible with Idol so that move would work too.

Updating from previous post (page 2) for the new shows that are possible.
1. I don't think ABC is going to drastically change up every night on there schedule. People dont want every show finding a new timeslot. So, I have made little changes.
SUNDAY 7:00 - Amercia's Funniest Home Videos 8:00 - Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 9:00 - Desperate Housewives 10:00 - Brothers & Sisters (Possibly New Series)
MONDAY 8:00 - Dancing with the Stars 9:30 - Samantha Who? 10:00 - NEW SERIES (Possibly Brothers & Sisters)

THURSDAYS 8:00 - Ugly Betty 9:00 - Greys Anatomy 10:00 - Women's Murder Club (No new series seem to work after Grey's)

I'm all for that! Although I think it would be best if ABC only aired new series. Miss/Guided doesn't seem like a TGIF show and well that leaves According to Jim.....ugh.
