Though i know DSM has already been cancelled, they should give this show a second chance. beacause its retention out of PRIVATE PRACTICE wasnt that bad.
MONDAY 8:00 True beauty/DWTS 9:00 In the motherhood/DWTS 9:30 Samantha who? 10:00 the bachelor
true beauty has a better chance of starting off the night then the bachelor, and ITM seems like a good fit 4 "sam".
TUESDAY 8:00 Border security (dec-feb) DWTS (Mar-May) 9:00 Scrubs 9:30 Better off ted 10:00 Life on mars (jan-mar) B&S (mar-may)
I think DWTS should be on at 8:00 and put some comedys at 9:00 to help there comedy problem. and Life on mars Can rest here for awhile. and brothers and sisters needs to vacate post housewives spot beacause its not retaining enough
WEDNESDAY 8:00 UGLY BETTY 9:00 LOST 10:00 The unusuals
I couldnt think of a show for 8:00 But UB is killing itself slowly already so lets try it here. the unusuals would be a good lost commpanion.
THURSDAY 8:00 PUSHING DAISIES 9:00 GREYS 10:00 PRIVATE PRACTICE
Lets give daisies one last shot at life.
FRIDAY 8:00 KING OF THE HILL 8:30 THE GOODE FAMILY 9:00 In the motherhood (for when DWTS RETURNS) 9:00 According to jim 10:00 20/20
fox doesnt appreciate KOTH already so take it off there hands right now. and i think this comedy lineup might not do that bad.
Programming ABC for mid season wont be easy, but we'll see how they do.
SUNDAY 7:00 AFV 8:00 CUPID (NEW) 9:00 DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES 10:00 PRIVET PRACTICE (NEW NIGHT & TIME) Makeover is moved to help save Tuesdays, the women of Wisteria Lane made Grey's a hit, I'm sure they'd watch the Grey's spin-off, which was once a hit.
MONDAY 8:00 TRUE BEAUTY (NEW) / DWTS 9:30 SAMANTHA WHO? / IN THE MOTHERHOOD (NEW) 10:00 SUPER MANNY (NEW) / CASTLE (NEW) We honestly just need place holders until Dancing comes back. Run Samantha almost repeat free since CBS's Worst Week is starting to beat it. CASTLE with Nathan Fillion sounds like it'd be a good.
TUESDAY 8:00 EM:HE (NEW NIGHT) 9:00 BACHELOR / DWTS RESULTS 10:00 BROTHERS & SISTERS (NEW NIGHT) ABC's reality titian vs FOX's reality titian, cheap placeholder, and a transplanted relationship drama while NBC and CBS are airing procedural cop shows.
WEDNESDAY 8:00 PUSHING DAISIES 9:00 LOST 10:00 LIFE ON MARS (NEW NIGHT) I believed if paired with LOST, DAISIES can bloom once more. MARS might benefit more out of LOST than it did GREY'S.
THURSDAY 8:00 UGLY BETTY 9:00 GREY'S ANATOMY 10:00 THE UNUSUALS (NEW) We put a show about quirky young cops on after a show about quirky young doctors. It could work.
FRIDAY 8:00 THE GOODE FAMILY (NEW) 8:30 ACCORDING TO JIM (NEW NIGHT) 8:00 SCRUBS 8:30 BETTER OFF TED (NEW) 10:00 20/20 The return of the TGIF comedy block!
lopez, your schedule seems the most likely of the three. I believe ABC's schedule will be very close to what you have. The only differnce may be Friday at 8pm and Wednesday at 8pm.

I think Travis has mentioned that Castle and the Unusuals aren't ready yet. So here's my stab at what will be coming out in the next week.
Mondays (Jan): The Bachelor Samantha Who True Beauty
Mondays (Mar): Dancing Samantha Who/ they may try another female skewing comedy here for a few weeks once SW's season is done. Castle
Tuesdays: Jim Jim Scrubs Better Off Ted (TVWeek thinks this is going post-Scrubs) Eli Stone burnoff/ Cupid (they're spreading clips of this online and rumors have said Tuesdays- I hate this time slot for it but at least its not a crime show)
The March lineup for Tuesdays is completely dependent on how it does in January. If I had to guess, Scrubs will bomb and get canceled with remaining eps on Tuesdays at 8 with Jim or Ted come late March and for Dancing to take back 9pm. 10pm may end up being Primetime should Cupid fail.
Wednesdays: Border Security/ the Goode Family (I think they'll air back to back eps in March or April) Lost Life on Mars/ The Unusuals (April)
Thursdays: Ugly Betty Greys Private Practice
ABC won't move Betty as much as people think they should. Private Practice is going to get some loving for a while too.
Fridays: Won't change.
Sundays: Won't change but we may see some shows preview after Housewives like Cupid and Castle.
Waiting on deck yet: Newleyweds (I smell a summer future) One of those female-targeted comedies (either Cougar Town or In the Motherhood) Primetime (I expect this to end up Tuesdays eventually)

This is probably is one of the schedules being discussed by ABC. Not sure if or when AI moves to 9pm on Wednesday's but tht would be when The Goode Family would probably air.
I change my mind! now with the recent cancellation of the MRC block i have a NEW IDEA!
FRIDAY 8:00 Surviving suburbia 8:30 According to jim 9:00 Scrubs (once DWTS Comes back) 9:30 Better off ted (once DWTS Comes back)
And The goode family can wait til Fall along with King of the hill. and with this programing they can have a successful TGIF block!
Not a bad change, however, based on its NBC run, I don't know if "Scrubs" is capable of being placed in the so-called "tent pole" position in the middle of a two-hour comedy block. That is a sad statement to say about a series entering its eighth year. Instead, maybe this line-up would work better:
8:00 Surviving Suburbia 8:30 Better Off Ted 9:00 According to Jim 9:30 Scrubs
In this scenario, "Ted" or "Scrubs" could easily swap time slots. Like or hate it (and most people seem to not only hate it, but loathe it), "According to Jim" has its audience out there. "Jim" is also probably ABC's strongest comedy, though that isn't saying much when its only competition is the lead-in dependent "Samantha Who?".
I have always been a critic of ABC's Friday night plans, dating back all the way to last May when the network unveiled its fall slate. In midseason, ABC will be the only network not to air scripted entertainment on the night (I am included MNT's "WWE Smackdown!" because, let's face it, it's scripted). Even lowly CW has original scripted fare on the night. NBC will stay in business with the return of critically acclaimed "Friday Night Lights" and Fox is making an aggressive move on the night with both "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" and "Dollhouse" populating the night. ABC's answer, more "Wife Swap" and "Supernanny".
The reason I am so critical of ABC is because I do not want to see Friday nights go the way of Saturday, and ABC's line-up, to me, doesn't in anyway suggest that the net is serious about keeping that from happening. Of course, we as viewers have to do our part too, and that means the networks have to see that it is worthwhile to keep programming the night with more than just forgettable, throw away reality offerings.
I think the reason why ABC went with unscripted material is the fact that scripted didn't work for it. WMC pulled in the same demos as Supernanny but Supernanny is a fraction of the costs.
I don't think scripted material is going to make a comeback on ABC and I think that is the correct choice. ATJ was in the mid 1 demos all last year. It's demos dipped lower than both Supernanny and Wife Swap. I don't see it's ratings drastically improving on Fridays. Scrubs is untested on ABC. The biggest question is can it move over successfully? While Scrubs would pull slightly higher demos, it's viewership would be on par with Supernanny. It's episode costs are also much higher than the other comedies around it, making it a less than ideal candidate for Fridays. Better Off Ted and Surviving Surburbia are new comedies that could either hit or miss.
ABC would be better off creating new comedy blocks Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 8 PM. They are more watched timeslots that can support the more expensive scripted programming.
I also think that Welcome To The Newlyweds should be tried out on Fridays. This show did very well last year and would do just as well as the comedy option at a fraction of the cost.

No offense, but you sound like a broken record when it comes to demos. While it is true that advertisers want to reach as many people between the ages of 18 and 49 as possible, not every decision made at a network is dependent upon these demographics. No matter how much you continue to carp on them.
On Fridays, ABC is reaping what is has sown over the past half season. With NBC likely to successfully plug its Friday at 10:00 p.m. hole with "Dateline" beginning next week, and Fox getting into the game with its two dramas slated to air in January, ABC could sink to fourth place overall - something that I would be happy to see.
While you say that "scripted didn't work for it [ABC]" on Fridays, CBS has proven that if you put something that is scripted on worth watching, people will watch it. ABC probably wishes it could draw in 11 million viewers for its awful reality offerings - regardless of what it did in that vaunted demographic. On the other hand, ABC could love to have 11 million viewers for anything it airs besides "Dancing With the Stars" and Sunday nights.
Lastly, based on your previous comments on other topics on this board, broadcast TV wouldn't be anything but a continuous test pattern. As a network executive you wouldn't have anything to air because you would cancel every program after only one airing if it doesn't score a home run in those precious demographics.

Dateline alone can't fix NBC's problems. The new Howie series likely won't draw much better than DOND's 1.2 on Fridays. Wife Swap is usually around a 1.5 or 1.6, sometimes higher in the demo. Friday Night Lights usually pulled a 1.9 or so when it aired on Fridays last year, with a much much stronger DOND lead in and now it will be airing repeats too. Dateline will have to really do well to beat ABC and I would expect Supernanny's 1.9 in the demo along with the mid 2's pulled by 20/20 will be more than enough for ABC to beat NBC. Fox's drama lineup would finish in second if it held the numbers Terminator is getting on Monday, but let's be realistic. Terminator will be lucky to pull a 2.0 demo on a Friday. That audience is not going to be home and is not going to be watching live.
Sorry but this is not going to happen. ABC won't come in 4th.
Dateline will be an improvement over Lipstick Jungle. However, it's not going to produce higher numbers than 20/20. NBC is airing FNL repeats. Most of the dedicated FNL fans have seen either through DirectTV or through internet downloads. It struggled to last year and won't have a lead in to help it this year. It will be lucky to pull past mid 1s in the demos and above five million.
FOX Sci Fi Fridays is a dump. T:SCC is pulling a 1.8 and under 5 million on Mondays, in a much more watched timeslot. It will be lucky to pull above 4 million and 1.5 in its new home. The game shows are a much cheaper and higher rated option. They will be coming back by Fall of 2009, if not sooner. Right now, FOX is just getting rid of the remainder of T:SCC and Dollhouse, which was rumored to have numerous problems in its execution.
As for 11 million, what ABC comedy on schedule or in development can produce those numbers by itself without an established lead in? Yes, ABC would love those numbers but you can't just plug in a comedy and expect those numbers. Especially established comedies like ATJ and Scrubs that would never produce those kinds of numbers.
As for scheduling, I'm not cancelling everything. However, there are a lot of suggestions like moving comedies to Fridays that make little sense. A lot of people plan to reschedule everything without realizing the effort it takes to promote, restructure, and reshuffle. With the demos and ratings the reality shows are getting, ABC would never undergo that task of replacing them with comedies that won't do much better. ABC has said itself that they are using Friday as a plug and play type night. People can get involved one week and miss it the next and still know what is happening. Comedies don't fit in that equation. It might please comedy fans to have this theory of comedies on Friday, but it's not a reasonable solution.
Just for fun, I predict that Supernanny and Wife Swap will break the 2.0 demo barrier by March. Their are having an upward trend. When that happens, ABC will be very happy with it.

If you actually read my statement, I did not say that "Dateline" would solve NBC's problems. I specifically said that the newsmagazine would help shore up the network's 10:00 p.m. time slot.
As far as "Friday Night Lights" goes, come on, get real. You may call these reruns, but I would guess that DirecTV did not have a measurable jump in subscriptions when it announced it would be airing the series before NBC did. For most viewers, those "Friday" episodes won't be reruns, but instead first-run.
And for the record, I don't give rats rear about the demos. I look at total viewers, so I stand by my prediction that ABC could (note the word COULD, not WILL) fall to fourth place - in total viewers once the network's settle on their midseason plans for the night.

Sorry, but we'll just have to wait and see if ABC comes in fourth place (in total viewers - because I don't care about the precious demos).
I consider myself a "Friday Night Lights" fan, but since I didn't cancel my Dish Network service or watch the DirecTV episodes from an illegal internet download site, I guess I'm not as dedicated as some others are.
True, Fox is gambling with it's new Friday schedule, but at least Fox is putting in an effort - something that not all the nets can claim for Fridays. A network that uses the crutch that no one is going to watch so why bother to waste our time programming it, is not going to be a successful network. CBS makes a concerted effort to program Fridays (and was the last network to abandon Saturdays), and viewers have rewarded it with all three hours averaging 11 million viewers last week and overall stability across the board.
Not to argue, but you do nothing but advocate canceling or uprooting series based on only minimal results. After only one week, you were insistent that CBS cancel or move "Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried". Given the recent (potential) full season order for "Gary", obviously the suits at CBS failed to take your sage advice. Maybe that is why they are the ones making the big bucks?
If ABC is happy having a "plug and play" night, then perhaps the deserve the mess that their network - sans Sunday and "Dancing With the Stars" - is presently in. To say that comedies require weekly attention is simply laughable. By design, a comedy does not require someone to watch every single episode to know what is happening. If you miss this weeks episode of "Two and a Half Men" (using this series as an example since it is the most popular comedy on broadcast TV), you mustn't waste your time watching next week because you won't have any clue what is happening? Really? I guess I could miss a couple months worth of "Grey's Anatomy" episodes (which I don't watch, by the way) and know exactly what it going on, right? Because "Grey's" isn't a comedy, right?
Just for fun, I predict that neither of ABC's cheaply reality fare (on Friday) will do any better in March than they do in January.
