Heard that, despite the less-than-what-the-network-canceled-after-three-airings-last-season ratings, CBS ordered 4 more scripts of Cane.

I smell writer's strike fear! Not that telling the show it has another 4 scripts means they'll be written by November 1st...

Hi Travis,
I'm glad to hear this. I am enjoying seeing Jimmy back on Tuesdays at 10.
With the pending strike, does it make a difference if the writers are also producers of a show? I was noticing on Bones yesterday -- something like 15 people are listed as some sort of producer and on Supernatural last week several of the writers were listed as producers also.
Thanks Smiler

How many scripts did the show have before this additional 4?

I think 9, although i'm not sure. Anyway fear of the strike or not it's a good think that NBC and CBS ordered more scripts

Good news, the above post about
the 9 sounds right, and I like this
show and have posted on it frequently
in this forum. But I'm going to
swing back to the middle here and
say I think the writing needs to
improve. I am not a script writer,
but these brief scenes and jumping
around storylines is not the ticket
here. A scrap thown here and there
to each character and storyline will
not help us get to know or care about
these people. JMO.

Cane, like a few other shows, need to start something actully happen instead of the never ending set up.

I agree the may be trying to get too many story lines going at once. Need a little more action.

I kind of agree as well. Even if they don't cut the number of storylines, the could have longer scenes for each individual storyline rather than 30 seconds here, 30 seconds there.

Yep. And as pointed out, this
type of problem plagues numerous
shows, and every year at that, and
it's amazing the problem persists,
because this kind of problem can
be a showkiller.

I tend to agree with the three of you, except that for me it actually has led me to give up on the show.

I'm open to the idea of a character study that isn't particularly "plotty," but it better be a damn good character study. The only show on TV that's pulling that off for me right now is Mad Men on AMC. The characters I'm seeing on Cane aren't particularly interesting or original, despite an incredibly capable cast.

I'm giving up yet, but I agree on the bland characters. Hopefully things cane really get rolling here soon.

I'm still watching because the cast is incredibly gorgeous. I tend to zone out for awhile as I imagine... oh wait - what forum is this...? Never mind.

They are smokin hot. If it were on any network but CBS it would probably be doing better among the young folks.
