8:00pm Volleyball: AVP Cincinnati Open Final [sports]
Do you think Volleyball will give MNT a big ratings boost?
Well Justin, it's a possibility, but a rather remote one.
First of all, MyNetworkTV ran their first volleyball special on Saturday August 18, 2007 at 9 pm with two episodes of the AVP "DiG" series which garnered a 0.3HH/1% and 483K viewers. But it was saddled with a lowish lead-in from Celebrity Daredevils at 8 pm.
That number was less than what MNT has been averaging with the IFL encores on Saturday nights, and way less than MySaturdayNightMovie.
The special tomorrow night is part of a co-broadcasting of the AVP volleyball games by MyNetworkTV and NBC. And NBC's numbers have not been that grand for the Saturday afternoon daypart:
Aug.19 0.9HH/2%, 1,200k viewers
Aug.11 0.7HH/2%, 915k viewers
So, I estimate a rating of 0.5HH/1% and about 650-700k viewers.
With IFL, Beach Volleyball and the soon-to-debut NFL NETWORK: Total Access, MyNetworkTV is clearly putting a major stake in the ground with sports programming to attract viewers to the network, especially the elusive M18-49 demo.
