CBS has also been guilty of this with many shows during January. The only thing I can figure is that maybe they think there's a heightened awareness by running originals consecutively (a larger audience gets to see the "Next week: SVU is all new" promos), but that still doesn't answer why they're doing it in the first half of January rather than waiting for the sweep. Many Januaries see shows only run 1 or 2 originals, and in those years they have a solid half-season worth of episodes remaining.
