The problem with adding a second 'young demo' show is that they will likely be making the same move as when they traded Close to Home for Moonlight. Is it worth it to CBS to give away millions of viewers in exchange for trying to attract a younger demo? If so, which of the 'old demo' shows should be axed? My guess: Shark.

The third option for CBS is to pair up The Amazing Race with an hour of additional comedy offerings. CBS has done the best job of any network in terms of keeping comedy on the primetime map in recent years. If CBS finds success with The New Adventures of Old Christine, that means that they will only need one additional comedy in order to leave the Monday lineup as it was at the start of the year and branch a comedy pairing off to a second night as a lead-out for the Amazing Race.

I think CBS should alternate The Amazing Race with Survivor. In this way you can have one edition of each during the season thus avoiding burning out the two franchises.

Why would CBS want to weaken Thursday night for half a season by putting The Amazing Race there?

Yes, we a talking about a difference of around 2 million demo viewers and 4 million viewers over all. I like TAR, but there is no way TAR could stand up on Thursdays. Survivor wins the demo on Thursdays, TAR would push CBS to second or third.

What they should do (but never will) is put Amazing Race on Monday's at 8PM and dump 2 of those brutal comedies. Or move 2 of the comedies to Sunday nights. As much as I don't like the show, I think Christine would work better for them on Sunday nights after 60 Minutes. By putting comedies in the 8PM hour on Sundays in the fall they could also just schedule 60 Minutes from 7:30-8:30 and followed by 1 comedy to avoid the constant delays for the other shows following.

Watching 5th Grader and then later on Family Guy and American Dad. Ugly Betty perhaps at 8pm.
