Dumont Prime Choices: FridayTonight, I'm watching a lot of NBC, and MyNetworkTV, are two networks that are hot hot hot this week...could MNT end the week in fifth place? Plus a bit of ABC and TCM to keep me busy watching.
LIVE: 8:00 pm 1 vs 100(NBC) -> Welcome back, mob!
9:00 pm Friday Night Lights (NBC) -> I went out over the holidays and bought the first season dvd set of this top-notch series.
10:00 pm 20/20 (ABC) -> Last weeks "A Year Caught on Tape: 2007" episode still resonates, especially those scenes from the net of that poor baby waterbuffalo being tussled within the teeth of the cheetahs and the alligator, and then miraculously running off when momma came on the scene to gore a few cheetah.
LATER:Friday on MyNetworkTV...My Night for Movies
8:00 pm – Bubble Boy (MNT) -> This 2001 feature is receiving its broadcast network premiere on MyNetworkTV and it stars Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal as a teen in a protective bubble who goes on an odyssey for love. The description reminds me so of that exceptional seventies movie "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" starring Mr. John Travolta.
8:00 pm - The Natural [R] (TCM) -> Could there be any more stirring scene in the cinema than when Miss Glenn Close, luminous in her resplendent white sunbonnet, stands alone in the bleachers to inspire Mr. Redford's character to knock it out of the park? One of the most mythic movies ever made, and shown on TCM widescreen, not the typical network pan-and-scan.
