This is a very smart move. I was wondering why CBS would waste originals on them, considering the time of year and the writers strike.

Dumont Prime Choices

MY WEDNESDAY PRIME:

LIVE:

8:00 pm – Clash of the Choirs (NBC)-> I'm going to lead off a night of seasonal music with this toe-tapping variety-reality series from NBC which I enjoyed on Monday night.

9:00 pm - "A Holly Jolly Pops Holiday With Barenaked Ladies and the Boston Pops Orchestra" (PBS) -> A happy Christmas special of seasonal music performances as Mr. Keith Lockhart conducts the Boston Pops Orchestra and shares the stage with the Canadian alternative-rockers Barenaked Ladies.

10:02 pm Holliday Celebration at Ford's Theatre (ABC) -> Performers scheduled include Miss Olivia Newton-John.

DVR:

9:00 pm - Gossip Girl (The CW) -> I started watching this show as part of Sunday nights Easyview encore, and enjoy it so much that I cannot wait for Sundays to roll around. When The CW eventually sees the wisdom of pairing this drama with One Tree Hill, it will have one powerhouse two-hour block of young adult melodrama.

10:00 pm - Journeyman (NBC) -> This series is certainly bowing out with a flourish...Monday nights episode was a tense hour of nailbiting suspense and plot twists that reminded me of the work of Mr. Rod Serling. There is viewer activism afoot whereby those who want to see More Journeyman are sending packets of Rice-A-Roni to the Peacock...wouldn't it be nice to see an advert for the San Francisco treat as part of tonights first season finale? A loud and sustained bravo to the creators of this series for their inspired work!

TV isn't supposed to be this good six nights before Christmas.

Live:
8 - Duel (ABC) - Interesting how the pace was much faster in the first hour tonight, then slowed down again toward the end. Maybe now that they're back to an hour, it'll improve for good. I'm not sure if I'm watching this for four more hours this week, but for now I'm still fascinated.
9 - Gossip Girl (CW)
10 - Journeyman (series finale) (NBC)
- Well, I know when the ratings writing is on the wall, but everyone involved with this one should be proud. A true testament to how to make creative adjustments after what was, frankly, a rather lame beginning.

I really wanted to try Crowned at some point, but I just can't muster up the enthusiasm. Maybe a DVR try, but probably not.

They give you 3 chances a week to see it even without the DVR.

The real question is: what about that show looks appealing?

Apparently nothing, since I can't get myself to watch it.

Was probably more programming curiosity than anything else. I guess I figured if CW thought this could hold up three times a week, there must be something there.

Remember that they did the same 3x per week programming for Pussycat Dolls when it started off last season.

I was quite surprised at how strong the Sunday encore performed in the ratings...I thought it would do poorly (for CW Sunday), but it got good numbers.

I watched it last Wednesday, and I found it very lame, predictable reality television. I also think The CW aimed it a bit too old, with a bunch of twentysomething women with fortysomething mothers...one watches all the malarkey and shakes the head saying really, these women are a bit too grown-up for all this embarassing nonsense.

A more interesting (and believable) variation would have been to have younger (late-teen) girls with thirtysomething mothers. And that probably would have gathered up more of the W18-34 demographic that The CW so obsessively chases.

Duel
Frosty and Frosty Returns if I feel in the holiday mood.
Catching up on Saving Grace (2 episodes), October Road, Notes from the Underbelly, and eventually Chuck and some Lost.
