Dumont Prime Choices

MY SATURDAY PRIME:

LIVE:

8:00 pm "South Carolina Democratic Primary Coverage" (CNN) -> I'll be glued to the screen as the results come in for this very tight race.

LATER:

Saturdays are My Night for Accessing NFL and Music on MyNetworkTV
8:00 pm - NFL Total Access -> With the Super Bowl just around the corner, lets hope that this series sees a bit of a numbers field goal over the next three weeks. I'm going to tune in for all the features on and interviews with the players.

9:00 pm – Control Room Presents -> This is an encore broadcast from Christmas Day featuring Rihana that obtained a series high rating for the series. I'm going to watch it again, so good was it.

MY SUNDAY PRIME:

LIVE:

7:00 pm 60 Minutes (CBS) -> This episode is built around an interview with the FBI interrogator who did the interview with Mr. Saddam Hussein after his capture.

8:00 pm The Screen Actor Guild Awards (TBS) -> This may be the only important awards show to get a broadcast this year. Expect many speeches of support for the scribes.

10:00pm Breaking Bad (AMC) -> Week one worked, and I'm on-board for the full ride.

LATER:

7:00 pm CW Now (CW) -> News you can use about trends with benefits.

8:00 pm Life is Wild (CW) -> This marvellous series draws to a close next Sunday, and it will be hard to say good-bye.

8:00 pm The Simpsons (FOX) -> Fresh Simpsons, That 90s Show, it will rate big.

9:00 pm Hallmark Hall of Fame: The Russell Girl (CBS) -> The Hallmark films for television absolutely define the television anthology genre.

9:33 pm American Dad (FOX) -> Fresh Dad tonight.

10:00 pm SPIKE Original Movie: Sharpshooter (SPIKE) -> This 2007 film receives its television debut as part of a new series of fresh-to-tv theatricals that SPIKE is showcasing on Sunday nights. This feature-direct-to-tv movie stars Mr. Bruce Boxleitner, a star of many television series, telefilms and features, but best remembered as Luke Macahan on the ABC series "How the West Was Won". The film also stars Mr. James Remar and Mr. Mario Van Peebles, and internet whispers say Mr. Van Peebles is quite intense in the film.

I'm curious to see how Shark will do after 60 Minutes. That makes alot more sense than 60 Min. leading into The Amazing Race.

CBS's problem is that it doesn't really have a good place to put The Amazing Race. 8pm Wednesday is the best spot (and just cancel Kid Nation), but even that location isn't a proven success spot for the show. The other option is for CBS to try and find a second show that appeals to a younger crowd so that they have something to pair with The Amazing Race. The problem with adding a second 'young demo' show is that they will likely be making the same move as when they traded Close to Home for Moonlight. Is it worth it to CBS to give away millions of viewers in exchange for trying to attract a younger demo? If so, which of the 'old demo' shows should be axed? My guess: Shark.

The third option for CBS is to pair up The Amazing Race with an hour of additional comedy offerings. CBS has done the best job of any network in terms of keeping comedy on the primetime map in recent years. If CBS finds success with The New Adventures of Old Christine, that means that they will only need one additional comedy in order to leave the Monday lineup as it was at the start of the year and branch a comedy pairing off to a second night as a lead-out for the Amazing Race.

If I were CBS I would put The Amazing Race on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

I saw an ad for this show. They called themselves the original competition show, explained how they have it all combined, and sort of thumbed their noses at American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and America's Next Top Model.

Bingo .... I say if Christine does well this spring move it along with a new comedy offerring to Sundays. Then CBS would have some flexability between Mondays and Sundays. They could even think about moving HIMYM to Sundays and try to lunch a new show on Mondays.

Although, I would put the new comedy hour as the lead into TAR. That way CBS could get back on the 1/2 when they have football overrun by going with only one comedy. I know that puts TAR against DH, but it gets it away from the similar EMHE. It will also vastly improve the 10:00 show that is getting killed by the football ovverrun.

I like this idea of comedy at 8 on Sundays, especially for dealing with football overrun. However, I don't think Christine is strong enough and should be cancelled. I think a Monday of BBT,new comedy, 2.5 Men, and ROE would work, and HIMYM and a new comedy on Sundays. Maybe bring back Christine for midseason.
