Could tonights Lost be termed a newpeat?

My understanding is that the only new content added in are text-crawls at the bottom of the screen giving clues and background information on unresolved questions and open plot threads. But there are apparently no additional scenes from last May's broadcast.

I don't know of a hard and fast definition for "newpeat," but I wouldn't consider either the Gossip Girl on Monday or the Lost tonight a "newpeat" by the standards set by the Office one.

The Office literally took new scenes and restructured the episode to fit them, so that it was actually a different episode (with the same runtime). The GG special had a couple deleted scenes, but they told you ahead of time that was what they were, and most of the additional content were things like cast interviews. It was still the same pilot. Lost tonight is, as you said, the same ep with the occasional text add-in. I don't think there are new scenes.

I guess to me it's irrelevant whether they call it a "newpeat" or a "repeat" or whatever. I do believe "enhanced" is the best moniker for it, but I know I, and many others, will be tuning in for the additional information, something that should especially help the casual viewer to catch up, and the serious viewer to get that extra little bit of info. I think it's a brilliant strategy.

The network saying it's enhanced is another way of saying a bit better sound, quality, and a few different scenes.

Take a look at the Disney enhanced movies. It's still the same thing.
