Dumont Prime Holiday ChoicesJustin may not have gotten the sheets for MyNetworkTV next week, so I'll give you the low-down on what's playing on the nascent network:
My Place for the Holidays is MyNetworkTV
Monday: 8-10 pm "All the Pretty Horses" -> A wonderful film, beautifully lensed, with top-notching acting talent and superbly directed.
Tuesday: 8-10 pm "Control Room Presents..." -> A doubleheader of fresh episodes are offered up as a holiday gift to viewers from MyNetworkTV ... at 8 pm, Rihanna performs in a concert recorded in Montreal, and at 9 pm, Miss Avril Lavigne performs in gig taped in Los Angeles.
Wednesday: 8-10 pm "A Touch of Fate" -> Fans of Miss Teri Hatcher, set your DVRs for this evening. This is a broadcast premiere of a film Miss Hatcher filmed just before her career re-launched with Desperate Housewives. This film was a bit of a darling amongst the film festival crowd and Miss Hatchers large internet fandom. For puzzling reasons unknown, this film never received a theatrical release and went into the DVD shops instead. Until MyNetworkTV scheduled it for a well-deserved broadcast.
MY CHRISTMAS WEEKEND PRIME: LIVE:Saturday: 8-11 pm -> The "Saturday Night Live" (NBC) double-header.
Sunday: 7-8 pm -> 60 Minutes (CBS) - This will probably have some very important year-end review story.
Sunday: 8-9 pm -> Story of Santa (CW) - From the adverts, this looks to be a great animated special.
Monday: 8-10 pm -> "All the Pretty Horses" (MNT).
Tuesday: 8-10 pm -> "Control Room Presents..." (MNT).
Wednesday: 8-10 pm -> "A Touch of Fate" (MNT).
LATER: Saturday: 8-10 pm –>
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou - This excessively funny movie received its broadcast premiere last spring on MNT.
Sunday 8-10 pm -> Christmas in Connecticut (TCM) - Perhaps my favourite Christmas movie, this gem stars Miss Barbara Stanwyck.
Sunday: 10-12 pm -> The Edison Force (SPIKE) - SPIKE is starting up a Sunday night series of features and original telefilms. This film, starring Messrs. Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Justin Timberlake and Dylan McDermott (my favourite Big Shot) never received a theatrical release after indifference at the Toronto Film Festival and poor test screenings, instead going to DVD after a year or so. This is a broadcast/cable debut, and I'll be watching for the pedigree of the acting talent.
Monday: 9-11 pm -> Madagascar (ABC) - One of the few Disney animated features that I've never seen before.
Wednesday: 9-11 pm -> Kennedy Centre Honours (CBS) - An annual tradition that I enjoy viewing.
