Dumont Prime Choices

MY FRIDAY PRIME:

LIVE:

9:00 pm House (FOX) -> The Super Bowl over-run thoroughly confused my poor DVR, which only recorded the front half of this episode, so I'm going to watch tonight to see how it all ended.

10:00 pm 20/20 (ABC) -> Durable and dependable newsmagazine.

LATER:

8:00 pm Little Big Man (TCM) -> Classic western.

10:00 pm Fawlty Towers (PBS) -> Genre-defining situation comedy.

Hotel Rawanda. I've always wanted to see that, but never have.

Your xwiseguyx Picks to Click 4 Friday!

1 vs. 100: Still without a doubt, the best prime time game show out there. Although the "regular" cast of Mob celebs are definitely annoying and not adding any entertainment value to the show. If anything, I'd prefer a regular cast of everyday people who know how to play the game!! Anyways, enough ranting, tonight - A pop-culture wizard from Los Angeles and a Texas beauty queen mix it up against the mob in cerebral contests. Mobsters include Sommore; Ross Mathews; Richard Rubin; Oscar the Grouch; and Playboy's Dahm triplets (who are as dumb as they look.)

Cable Alerts!

Psych (USA): Tonight: The season ends with a missing-mummy case. Shawn is convinced that the relic wasn't stolen, but actually walked itself out of the museum.

Real Time With Bill Maher (HBO): This remains the best of the Political Shows out there and with the upcoming elections, it's of more interest than ever. The panel includes author Nina Hachigian, veterans' activist Paul Rieckhoff and commentator Andrew Sullivan. Interview guest: Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.). The writers return!

Local Viewer Alert!

Check Please! : 8:00 pm WTTW Channel 11
Check out a special compilation show that looks at Chicago's notable Asian restaurants. Included are: Japonais, San Soo Gab San, Tiparos, Chi Tung, Arun, Katsu, Red Light, Meiji and Joy Yee's.

Oscar the Grouch eh? I'll be home tonight. If I don't fall asleep by 7:00, I think I'll be tuning in. I also love Bill Maher's program even though he's lost some credibility for either not bringing in any on the opposite end of the discussion and when he does it has become some sort of a gang tackling session. Still, he's great and loved it when he kicked the conspiracy freaks out of the room earlier this season!

Actually Mushu, I can tell you that Bill tries harder than anyone to get the Republican minded folks on the show and when he is lucky enough to get one, he will go out of his way to reprimand the audience if they are going out of their way to make him/her feel uncomfortable. Yeah, he gets heated with 'em sometimes, but he keeps it on the issue and most people just are afraid to debate him, which is ashame because he is one of the best out there when it comes to debating and interviewing. And he did hire a black female Republican to report on the Conservative side of things for the show.

I should've said that Bill hasn't been harmful to the right because he's really quite fair to some of them, but its the guests and you're right that he did try to stick up for I believe it was Tony Snow who got grilled (come on the guys only the former press secretary- not like he could do much). As for the republican reporter, something just doesn't sound right about that one. Wink (For the record, I'm not saying blacks can't be Republicans- the best African American fit to run the country- Colin Powell is or maybe was a Republican).

I've seen that I believe once or twice Marc. Not my cup of tea but not terrible. Sometimes I enjoy some of the stuff on TLC in the evenings as well. Entertaining and insightful stuff.
