Why wouldn't FOX air the Thursday AI at 9PM? quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: It should be interesting to see what American Idol does to Survivor. quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: Well, AI moves to Thursday next week. So I certainly would save the Ugly Betty episode for a non-AI Thursday. The UB repeats do in the 8 million range, so there will likely be a slight increase in viewership with the Grey's repeat. Either way they will do less than their normal repeat averages against AI.

Because next week's the OC series finale, and the network wants to give it a solid lead in for its send off. Its a good move on Fox's part to give the OC, a show that kept them breathing on Thursday for 2 years a proper goodbye. quote: Originally posted by vlis: Why wouldn't FOX air the Thursday AI at 9PM? quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: It should be interesting to see what American Idol does to Survivor. quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: Well, AI moves to Thursday next week. Yes and Fox is using it to launch the new gameshow Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader. Why would Fox air it at 9 when the ratings would surely take a hit opposite both Grey's and CSI? At 8pm it can dominate the other programs. quote: Originally posted by vlis: and the following week? isn't AI airing at 8 on thurs as well? quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: Because next week's the OC series finale, and the network wants to give it a solid lead in for its send off. This is so FOX. A great show like American Idol (in terms of ratings) and they launch some silly game show out of it. People wonder why House is still behind AI on Tuesday, and the reason is because FOX can't develop anything else that will stick. Unanimous, anyone? quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: Yes and Fox is using it to launch the new gameshow Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader. At 9PM, FOX could do damage to CSI and Grey's.

But why distort the audience? AI would still win but it would take a hit. quote: Originally posted by vlis: At 9PM, FOX could do damage to CSI and Grey's.

The other two would do equal amounts of damage to Idol. I bet since its a results show it wouldn't average 20 million against those two. But I do agree that the new gameshow sounds dumb, but its Fox. What do you expect? Man vs. Beast? Actually, I kinda liked that one. quote: Originally posted by vlis: At 9PM, FOX could do damage to CSI and Grey's.

Well, where is Til Death going, becuase it was supposed to soon be moved after AI to boost numbers for it. quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: Yes and Fox is using it to launch the new gameshow Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader. Til Death moves to Wednesdays at 9:30 in March. It just aired its last Thursday airing this week. I expect big results for this series. Brad Garret is a very recognizable guy and should be able to pull in at least half the Idol audience and maybe even more. Fox really wants this show to work.

And for many reasons, one main one i think is that becuase it CAN! It was just on a bad time slot, but now, being after i guess AI, its expected to get about 15 mill. quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: Til Death moves to Wednesdays at 9:30 in March. 1 hour Reba finale, 7th Heaven, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters
Yikes...4 hours of TV! I better get my work done earlier!

I believe you now when you say that the OC will probably end up with around 6-7 million for the finale. I thought it would have perked up slightly by now but it hasn't. I guess it's just a matter of how fast those AI viewers can change the channel to CSI or Grey's Anatomy. quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: Because next week's the OC series finale, and the network wants to give it a solid lead in for its send off. No way! The OC finale probably won't top 7 or 8 million. Especially with Grey's and CSI in the mix. Last season, The OC only held 30% of the AI lead-on for an original episode...and that translated to just over 7 million. I strongly doubt anything higher than that for the finale. AI will make an impact, but Thursdays @ 9 is too tough for FOX to compete powerfully, even with AI leading in. Especially for adolescent girls, they're not going to miss their McDreamy even if it costs them the finale of a show they haven't watched in years. quote: Originally posted by vlis: At 9PM, FOX could do damage to CSI and Grey's.
