10 - Law & Order: SVU (NBC)

A couple interesting notes:

Fox is showing the pilot episodes of both Bones and House. As I haven't seen either one, there's a strong chance I will be at least DVRing those for a look at what these shows were like at the very beginning.

FX is showing Terminator 3 at 10:30, perhaps in a thinly veiled attempt to generate interest for the upcoming Terminator series. Of course, what's interesting is that the EPs of Sarah Connor Chronicles are on record saying that they are ignoring Terminator 3 in their series' continuity.

Since the 'continuity' of the three movies is defined as 'everything changes each time someone goes back in time, but that the 'same end' is still fated to happen', a lot of people think that there is no continuity that can be violated.

BTW, congrats on winning the Daily game. Now, if only you can figure out who swiped your medal. Wink

As for Tuesday TV: I probably won't watch any of the network fare.

I don't remember the movies well enough to carry on a real conversation about this, but I will say that I've heard the main reason they say this is to circumvent the whole "Sarah dies of cancer in 1997" thing that I think is referenced in T3. I guess forcing the series to end with "Sarah gets cancer and dies" isn't the most appealing way to go about it.

Thanks! I will take comfort in being the first person to ever predict the demo exactly. Big Grin

But in whatever new timeline they create, she could quit smoking/drinking or get a modified HPV vaccine or something and never get cancer. As soon as you allow for alternate timelines, all bets are off with respect to 'continuity'. I do agree with people that suggest she should still get cancer and die, though (or die in battle if they need to up the ratings during sweeps weeks). Otherwise, the 'future is fated' concept loses something. Personally, I see no reason to go with the second movies 'conclusion' that the future is unwritten rather than the third movies 'conclusion' that it is unwritten, but fated. Either way, the TV version should have ample opportunity to create 'monster of the week' storylines coming back from the future and completely ignore any of the longer term issues like 'death by cancer'.

Dumont Prime Choices

Since Justin's sheets don't include listings for MyNetworkTV, I shall share with you what's on MyNetworkTV tonight:

Tuesdays are Crimetime in Primetime on MyNetworkTV
8:00 pm – Street|Patrol -> MyNetworkTV's latest contribution to the crimetime reality verite genre from the same producers as MNT's Jail and FOX's Cops. Tonight's premiere has two fresh episodes back to back.

9:00 pm - Jail [R] -> Two encores back-to-back...fresh episodes are being stockpiled for the February Sweep.

MY TUESDAY PRIME:

LIVE:

8:00 pm One Tree Hill (CW) -> I'm curious to see how well the writers execute the four-year forward flip. Based on the previews, it looks like only Mouth has his life together. At commercials, I'll be flipping over to CNN to catch up on the results of the New Hampshire primary.

LATER:

8:00 pm Street|Patrol (MNT) -> I'll watch the first half-hour to see what it's all about, but crime reality is not a preferred genre of mine.

8:00 pm The Pink Panther (TCM) -> TCM is kicking off a mini-Pink Panther festival with this amusing sequel.

9:30 pm Carpoolers (ABC) -> I'll miss it being partnered up with Cavemen, but I'm eager to pick up on this series again. Hope it gets some resepectable Nielsens, if only to give Boston Legal a decent lead-in when it returns next week.

10:00 pm The Pink Panther Strikes Again (TCM) -> I think this is my favourite picture of the series...insanely funny.

By the way, TCM also jumped aboard the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles bandwagon last week when it re-ran the original Terminator film in its overnight schedule paired up with an exceptional gang film, The Warriors.

I'll be traveling to Florida on my interim trip but I'll most certainly check out OTH online later on.
