I had Carol Barbee on my radio program Tuesday night. They are already planning on a second season.
She said they would hope to air in January and stay on for 22 weeks straight. This long lay off and coming back with Idol in full swing hurt them a bit.
Still 8.65 million viewers on Wednesday and another 3 million on the repeat Saturday is not bad.
I still think is a goner. CBS can repeat crime dramas and still come up with similar numbers. Another possibility is the more demo-friendly hour comedy block. The demo audience for Jerico's two airings was a 3.3 last week---combined!!
The storyline is moving along very nicely. I think a move to Tuesday either at 9pm or 10pm would work. I also agree that the storyline is really moving along nicely.
Well next Wednesday Dateline will be on NBC opposite Jericho instead of Friday Night Lights.
I would hope the ratings would jump a bit. I know alot of people are going online to see Jericho over on CBS.com A network rep said Jericho is the most downloaded/viewed show in total on their website.
And CBS would not have poured so much into the site for Jericho unless it is at least leaning towards a renewal.
I think CBS wants this one to work if only to get back at the critics who said they couldn't launch a serial. The show should get a bump as soon as the Death Star leaves its timeslot.
It will get a bump once Idol leaves---but I don't think it will be enough to save it. CBS tends to have a quick trigger finger because they can run crime repeats and get the same or better ratings.

CBS is the worst of all networks but I really hope they give this show a second chance, it looks like CBS has been putting a lot of work promoting it online so maybe it will get a chance. 24 only got like 8 million viewers on an average in its first season and now its a big thing.
Yes CBS has not had a successful serialized series since DALLAS.
I would hope they would give it another season. But yes the break did not help things. And coming back after Idol was already in full swing hurt Jericho as well.
Some have suggested putting it after one of the CSIs but Jericho is as much blood and gore as CSI is.
Knots Landing ran at about the same time Dallas did. CBS has not had a successful serialized series in a while, but I would hardly call Jericho a success at this point.
