Well had they done this about a month ago I could've seen some potential success but not now. Its been way too long since the show has been cancelled. It was strange how they just dumped the shows though.

My advice to 4400 campaigners would be to aim for a movie, rather than a continuation of the series. Ratings weren't good enough to keep this alive for 13 eps, but I think it's had a nice run and USA could justify wrapping up the mythology in movie form.

Two entirely different situations in play.

CBS, rightly or wrongly, tried an image-changing move that probably won't make any difference in the long run (even if JERICHO does ok). But the impulse behind it is at least vaguely understandable.

USA appears to have less at stake with THE 4400.

However, there is some precedent. It was USA that aired LA FEMME NIKITA, which was brought back in 2001 for an 8 ep 5th season by a viewer campaign after 4 22 ep seasons ended inconclusively.

But whether the NIKITA situations and 4400 are similar would then be the next question, esp since net has changed ownership since then.

I don't know how Nikita was rating in season 4, but 4400 and Dead Zone were each pulling well less than half of what the three other USA orig's (Monk, Psych, Burn Notice) were getting and about half of what CI was doing even against WAT. So I don't think there's any real justification for a season 5. And as you said, I don't think there's a big branding issue at stake, as was the case with CBS and Jericho.

In other "copying Jericho" news, a Terminator ad during the Super Bowl was using that "Tick Tick Tick Boom" song that has become a staple of Jericho S2 promotion. Roll Eyes

Don't know what NIKITA ratings were, and the DVD commentary on the renewal didn't mention ratings either. They cut alot of costs in the 8 eps, but went on a real tear to properly end the series.

I don't watch THE 4400 so I don't know what they are leaving behind, agree it is unlikely there would be more. Also, USA is at a different stage of development now.
