*It seems like CBS keeps one show each year, and cancels one. Now because CBS already said that TBBT would be back next year, it looks like its already good-bye to WTTC.

Doesn't mean the mold can't be broken, after all these past 2yrs CBS has said they wanted to break out of what ever previous type casted network they had. Also before last year, CBS had 2 Comedy nights or at lease split ones, on Mondays and Wednesdays. Could happen again, who knows.
I'd love to see: Mondays: 8pm The Big Bang Theory 8:30pm How I Met Your Mother 9pm [New Drama] if they were going for an old stable returning show, Ghost Whisperer would fit. It could easily gain young audience from the Comedies and then also transition into Miami. 10pm CSI: Miami
Wednesdays: 8pm Rules of Engagement 8:30pm Two and a Half Men 9pm The New Adventures of Old Christine 9:30pm [New Comedy] 10pm CSI: New York
^all 3 Comedies have proven to CBS they can draw above 9.5mil viewers why not use it to aid a new one?
Fridays: 8pm [2 New Comedies] 9pm [New Drama] aimed towards younger crowd, if Moonlight doesn't get renewed. 10pm NUMB3RS
^Go TGIF that ABC has so desperately dropped. It worked for them in the 90's I'm sure CBS could do it again.
This could also help keep CBS from getting more heavy in Crime Dramas, along with keeping the Christine fans happy with an actual full season which is really deserves.

Don't forget Creature Comforts.
As far as Welcome to The Captain, I'll give it 3 weeks seeing as the strike will 99.9% for sure be over by then.

This was pretty lame. I wasn't ever really even remotely amused. May give one more shot next week because I like some of the cast, but only if I'm feeling really really generous.
And I don't think the whole "keep one, cancel one" thing happening in two of the last four years constitutes a trend that guarantees The Captain's cancellation. But I think the quality of The Captain guarantees The Captain's cancellation.

I agree that this show was not funny. I will say that it at least qualifies as being 'different' in terms of trying a new setting. Still, horny 'best friend' and lame old guy neighbor and gossipy front dest clerk all seemed Soooooo formulamatic. Interesting cast? I only found the female 'love interest' to be intriguing. I wish they had cast her in Big Bang Theory since that female lead is a dud, IMO.
As for the 'cancel one per year' theory, all I can say is that it might be two this year with Christine joining the list. Then again, maybe CBS will finally expand to 2 nights of comedy. The next few weeks will help them make that decision and WttC did not do itself any favors with the premiere.
No comment on the Captain since I didn't see it and probably never will, but..
I think it would be a good idea for CBS to expand to 2 nights of comedy. Putting two comedies on Wed. at 8 could shore up that night (since that seems to be one of their death slots). There's not a lot of competition in that hour and a set of good comedies could work well there. Or, putting them on Sunday could give them a younger skew for the night and during the fall they could plan to air one rerun and one new episode giving them the option of dropping the rerun to compensate for football overrun.

I'm not sure if relocating 2.5 Men is the best idea. I also don't think Ghost Whisperer VS Heroes is the best strategy. Maybe Criminal Minds VS Heroes would be better. I do think that comedies on Friday are a great idea.

1) Old Christine is in now way, strong enough to lead of a 9pm slot. Of the 6 comedies being run on CBS, its #5 on the list. And based on its ratings, it has not EARNED a full season renewal, yet.
2) Why waste 2.5 Men on an 8:30 slot? And Keep Mondays just as they are. The 4 sitcoms from the fall were really working well.
3) CBS's TGIF ripoff from the late 90's DIDN'T work. thats why they dropped it after 1 year. They had two aging retreads from ABC and two bad originals.
4) If you are going to start a 3rd hour of comedies, Sundays at 8pm would be perfect. Of course, they have to be the right shows, that are funny and family friendly.
If CBS did add a 3rd comedy hour I think it would best fit the CBS schedule in either the hour before Criminal Minds on Wednesday or after 60 Minutes on Sunday.
If NBC cancels Medium, since CBS is under contract to pick it up, I'd suggest it go Sundays after 60 minutes leading into Cold Case and Shark. It's too similar to Ghost Whisper to go on Fridays and Moonlight was already winning the hour and the demographic.

I think Medium on Sundays after Cold Case would work if it moved to CBS. Shark does not belong on that night. Perhaps Wednesdays at 8 would though.
I watched about 20 minutes of Captain and that was enough. I liked the cast though, but the writing was lame. This show had "please cancel me" written all over it.

I can do without the "family friendly" part, but I agree if they're to revert back to having 6 sitcoms on the air, this is the only hour outside of Monday where they stand a fighting chance. They actually got passable results a few years when they were airing comedies there (the '95-'96 season with "Cybill" and the thoroughly-sabotaged "Almost Perfect" and the '02-'03 season with "Becker" and "My Big Fat Greek Life"), but for whatever reason, they never toughed it out. Wednesday 8:00-9:00 has mostly been a trouble spot for decades. And "Rules of Engagment" leading off that night? Yeah, that should give them numbers in the hour the likes of which they haven't seen since the halcyon days of "Out of Practice" and "Courting Alex."

Does CBS have any 'family frriendly' commedies currently? How I met Your Mother is probably the most family friendly of the bunch, but even it centers on lots of non-family comedic moments.

Exactly. The Writing was pretty bad. Or, perhaps it would be best described as Interesting, but Tremendously unfuuny

BBT may be the closest sitcome to family Friendly.
But, I truely suspect CBS to can Old Christine, Captain and, Perhaps HIMYM. A new Comedy will get placed on Mondays and, if a 3rd hour is filled, 2 new comedies should be done.
A next generation Everybody Loves Raymond type of show needs to be developed.
