Overall, it sounds like a lot of work should be done to this one.

Sounds like a bomb. The reviewer didn't have anything positive to say about it.

From viewing the clip on the CBS website, I had this show pegged as possibly drowning in its own pretentiousness.

Did they not have time to write a script for the pilot and just decide to film the original British script with the new actors?

It sounds like they filmed it scene for scene. And this was one UK show that really needed to be re-written. Strangely enough, they lost 8 fetuses somewhere; there were 27 in the UK version.

Well, this gives Life on Mars (airing on ABC in the same time period) a good chance and maybe a better show getting picked up or given the post-CSI slot. Maybe the mismatched with Cold Case on Sundays' The Unit or another new drama.

CBS does have Harper's Island and The Tower in reserve for mid-season. Harper's Island seems like a Friday show but The Tower could substitute for 11th Hour if the ratings start tanking. That being said, I think CBS will stick with 11th Hour and be patient until viewer retention dips to 50%.

Tower sounds good. Since it'd made by the Cold Case people, I think it should go on Sundays.

I agree that Harper's Island sounds like a Friday show. Maybe when/if The Ex-List gets the ax. Grrr.. I wish CBS would have kept Joan of Arcadia instead of canceling it with JAG. To me, Joan & Ghost Whisper would have been a perfect pair.

I think I'll wait for at least a few more reviews on this. It's not a matter of hoping to have heard something better or expecting much from this. I just look at all that CBS has sacrificed to open up this hour. Not only was WAT taken out but it was put into possibly some peril particularly if THE MENTALIST fails to maintain the momentum started by NCIS.

And while ABC, for example, has needed to try almost anything in their 10pm thurs period, it's just not like CBS to crapshoot like this with something they are not confident in.

THE UNIT would not end up in this hour, as I think it is filler at this point and at best insurance in case of a blowout in the 9pm tuesday hour.

As far as JOAN OF ARCADIA, even in the 8pm hour I believe this show started with around 12mm viewers and lost a good bit of that by the end of the first season. I think anybody who was up for this checked it out and I doubt any other pairing would have mattered. It had buzz, critic support, and CBS was red hot at the time. It just didn't work out.

Considering that Harper's Island is having a complete cast rehaul (only the lead is expected to remain), I think this show could go along the lines of Waterfront and never see the light of day. I'm having a hard time seeing a large audience for a show about one person getting offed each week by a serial killer until only one person remains. (I think I might watch the first and then the final episode, but why watch everything in between?)

PS - the Ex-List might surprise. It's not as bad as I expected and the pilot with Eric Balfour was quite entertaining.

I don't know. Murder She Wrote was a big hit.

True, but the killer was caught each week.

I also think the Ex List will surprise some people. I think it will be a better show for the female lovers on Ghost Whisperer. Agreed also on Harpers Island and I really wish we would've gotten to see Waterfront. The show got good reviews for its pilot. My guess is someone stepped on Moonves's ridiculously high ego.
