I'm surprised he liked it so much.

I'm not. Unlike the other cut and dried CBS procedurals (CSI:Miami and NY and Cold Case especially), this one sounds like we've got a real character here. I'm easily looking forward to this most of the new CBS shows.

Sounds promising. The only thing that sucks is it is in the same timeslot as Fringe, which I will gladly choose over this but still I would have liked to at lease see and judge the "Pilot."

The futon critic is some terrific reviewer. He is so much better than those print media critics. When he reviews, I listen. Look at his last year's list :

Using the criteria of what shows got renewed for next season, he was almost perfect. His 4 star shows he was 5 for 5. His 3 star shows he had 5 out of 9, and of his 2 and 1 star shows only Lipstick Jungle got renewed.

I actually think NCIS will beat House in viewers next fall. I just think they skew different enough that it will be fine and I also think that the monster 8pm hour will only help the new 9pm shows. If I were NBC, I'd be putting either Lipstick Jungle or another new drama at 9pm next fall because of the massive amounts of viewers available. Also, if ABC's new gameshow survives at 8pm this fall (that's fairly iffy), then I see no reason why at midseason it couldn't handle Idol.

Obviously promising, and as I suspected the early line that this was some sort of paranormal show that should be paired with something like GHOST WHISPERER appears to have been debunked. It looks like a character driven twist on the crime genre, which is a step forward for CBS. Baker is a versatile actor, who carried the in my view mediocre GUARDIAN to 3 seasons before the show's older slant took it down.

Plenty of room in the hour for both this and FRINGE, the latter striking me as more of a demo hit than TA if it scores. If THE MENTALIST gets off, I see it in the midrange demo wise for CBS shows, namely, not needing 12-13mm viewers to get to a 3.0.

I'm enthusiastic, but it's just one review, and CBS is just so heavily geared to very formulaic shows that it will still be an achievement to break that mold. But it helps that both the acting AND production sides of the equation are filled with competent talent.

The Futon Critic is write on target with this one. A natural fit for CBS, which is adding another procedural to the mix instead of all of the chancy non-procedural failures from last season. Simon Baker makes the show though and it seems like they spent so much time developing his character that the rest are still a bit one dimensional. Robin Tunney's character has a lot of room for growth as well, and I expect her character will be much more interesting as time goes on. But it is definitely an appealing show that will appease those who enjoy Without A Trace, CSI and Cold Case. Biggest danger that this show faces is that being on CBS, it may skew a bit old. And those who are exclusively into the whimsical fare on ABC (cough cough Dumont) will probably steer clear of this one. Count me in as an avid fan of both.....
