I didn't say they wouldn't make it, I just said I wouldn't be interested. I guess you missed the part where I mentioned that "perhaps others will find it interesting". I don't discount shows that I find boring as universally boring.

As for the last musical drama hit, I guess it was Fame, the TV series, but I don't recall any others being tried out other than Cop Rock, and I didn't even like it, so it had to be really bad.

Well at least period pieces and Hospital series have a history of success.

When was the last Musical Drama Hit?????

Does anyone know whether CBS plans to air the three or four produced episodes of Waterfront?

Huh? Most CBS new scripted shows fail, just like they do on the other networks. Last season for instance:

3 Lbs - failed
The Class - failed
Jericho - failed
Smith - failed
Waterfront - failed

The only new shows tht survived were Shark and Rules of Engagement.

And these 2 shows that survived and certainly not self starters. Shark will die on Sundays next season, and Rules of Engagement will only survive as long as it has on behind 2 1/2 Men.

Heck no. It's dead. But if you are that interested in it, you can "trade" for the pilot
of the show if you are interested.

From his lips to your ears.

"I was recently asked by a journalist if I could sum up the secret of my success in one sentence.

FRANNIE'S TURN

VENUS ON THE HARD DRIVE (twice)

IT'S GOOD TO BE KING

NATHAN'S CHOICE

SLIGHTLY DAMAGED PEOPLE

DIRTY GIRLS

THE TYLER PERRY SHOW

TWO FAMILIES

FEEDING THE MONSTER

COUPLES

THREE CINDERELLAS

I told her there's no secret, I just have the magic touch."

- From Chuck Lorre Productions Vanity Card #132

I don't even know what 6 of those are (Unproduced scripts? Rejected pitches?), but it is kind of surprising that a guy who created/co-created 4 sitcom hits in the span of just a decade would have so many unsold pilots. Not picking up a Lorre pilot is like throwing out one of the golden goose's eggs. (Albeit not as surprising as Jim Belushi walking away from a 13-episode order on "It's Good to Be King" because he didn't like the scripts. Like they were any worse than "According to Jim's.")

Of course, of those 4 hits, he quit the first after a season, was fired a month into the second season of the second, and bailed on the third before it concluded its run. And it only ran 5 years. "Two and a Half Men" looks to be the first where he'll actually stay for season 5. Then again, for all I know, he's already quit.

I agree.

What ever happen to the Summer tradition of airing the failed pilots?

You know, I just breezed over that post
when I first saw it. Very good. First
belly laugh I've had in a few days.

I know. Waterfront actually sounded good too. Why couldn't the three episodes air as some sort of a made for TV movie deal?

That was a joke? I actually was wondering that - I used to enjoy some of them.

Not intended as a joke, but if you can make a person laugh, you did something good. Smiler

My bad. No sarcasm meant. That's
not my style. I guess I saw the
possible airing of these eps as
improbable and TV's post just set
off some laughter. A few of you
apparently watched more summer TV
and were better informed about how
they burned off these pilots.

I saw wry humor that wasn't intended.
That's all. Sorry.

What do you mean, excellent? I watched the preview at CBS.com and it looks awful. Judging by my first impressions of The Class and Big Bang, the Class is alot better and deserves that slot more. Big Bang will probably take the same pattern anyway. Underwhelms, Shortend season, replaced, cancelled.

What in the world are YOU smoking???

I watched ever episode of The Class, and I already like BBT better. It has more potential than The Class ever gave in it 19 episodes.
