x, I found a couple of small clips from Viva Laughlin embedded in a NY Times media critic article. Scroll down the page to find the video.

Oh my... this looks so brutal. I could not stand watching a dancing/singing act every few minutes. Just awful. I have seen enough. If I want to see a musical I will go to a broadway show. I might be wrong about the 3 and out. It might be 2 and out.

Huh? Most CBS new scripted shows fail, just like they do on the other networks. Last season for instance:

3 Lbs - failed
The Class - failed
Jericho - failed
Smith - failed
Waterfront - failed

The only new shows tht survived were Shark and Rules of Engagement.

And these 2 shows that survived and certainly not self starters. Shark will die on Sundays next season, and Rules of Engagement will only survive as long as it has on behind 2 1/2 Men.

Hack lasted 2 seasons on Saturday - not bad.

Kind of hard to come up with failed scripted CBS shows. There aren't that many, recently.

If these new shows don't get Nina Tassler fired (or, at the least, "reassigned" to another department), I don't know what will. Maybe she can "stir things up" on her way out the door.

Only "The Big Bang Theory" looks to have any shot (a negligible lead-in withstanding). Mostly because Chuck Lorre hasn't had a show cancelled after only one season since "Frannie's Turn" 15 years ago.

I agree.

I'm pretty sure they were clear that it is not every few minutes but occasionally. There will be a loyal following for this show because people are going to be thrilled at seeing something refreshingly different on TV.

And that is strictly from people reading the description on paper.

Well, Cop Rock is the only show that you can really compare it to.

I wonder how both Smith and 3lbs did in testing. And those shows are 10 times better than VL can be.
Lets not forget about Hack from a few years back.

After the first "number" TV set will be switching to ANYTHING Else. Have to remember to ask for the 1/2 hour breakdowns when it premires.

I think most of the new shows have a chance and look good... except Viva Laughlin. They should have went forward with the new Name That Tune on Sundays.

I actually think that Big Bang looked awful, but 2.5 Men fans will probably tune in. Cane looks interesting. Kids Nation could pull in the EXM: Home Edition fans, but I'm doubting it. Moonlighting is compatible, but vampires aren't a huge draw. Viva Laughlin looks good, but I'm not expecting long term results. Swingers in the 70s is blah. They should've picked up the Man for backup.

The cast of 30 Rock is grateful that you have a new project to focus on.

Christine should be replacing Big Bang rather soon. I hope there is enough time retool it before they order it on.

Kids Nation has good buzz from those who screened it. I won't discount it.

Moonlight (not to be confused with Moonlighting -Smiler is going to have limited appeal, but I will watch.

Cane looks good from the promos. But I'm starting to have second thoughts about its success. I'm having Black Donnelly flashbacks. But the difference is that I didn't want to check out BD and the promos make me want to check out Cane, so I hope I'm wrong.

Viva Laughlin is going to rock your world. Hugh Jackman will be producing musicals for NBC and ABC next year!

Swingtown is a period piece and as TV-aholic has aversions to musicals, mine are to period pieces and anything set in a hospital. But perhaps others will find it interesting.

X, does NBC really have the entire season of 30 Rock online? Kudos to them.

The preview of The Big Bang Theory looks excellent. It is really funny. For all those critics out there, I would not bet against Chuck Lorre, he has not had a failure yet. He is very funny and always comes up with good stuff. For anyone who has not seen it you can see it here :

Well at least period pieces and Hospital series have a history of success.
