Jerichos ratings were going down BEFORE the hiatis. I not sure I ever remember it getting a larger audience than from the week before.

The ratings had gone down some before hiatus, but only a little. It was a shoo-in for renewal before hiatus.

Ya it had a solid send off in the fall with over a 3 among 18-49s. It was never a mass hit, just a stable hit in the fall. I expect similar results to Jericho's spring run for the new dramas CBS is launching.

That's very optimistic.

Well none of the new stuff matches CBS' audience. I think CBS falls behind ABC in viewers.

I had been saying JERICHO's ratings
sank before hiatus as well, but wanted
to verify. Marc's archives reveal these
highlights......

9/27, ep # 2 - 11.38mm, 3.6 (peak)

10/25, ep # 6 - 10.54mm,3.2

11/15, ep # 9 - 9.41mm, 3.0

11/29, ep # 11 - 10.35mm, 3.1

Average for 1st half, per Marc,
10.78, 3.3

2/21, ep # 12 - 8.65mm, 2.4

5/9, finale - 7.77mm, 2.1

That looks like a rebound effect to me. The break killed it, that's for sure. Idol would've also hurt, but probably not to the extent that the hiatus did.

I thought Close to Home was going to get a mid season order... I still think they'd be smart to renew it. Look at what happened to Judging Amy.

The point I think some are trying to make and it is not just for Jericho is that the Networks do not stick with shows any more and give them ample opportunity to grow. With where TV is headed online, TIVO/DVR and the surge from cable channels they better be careful not to alienate audiences. Plus if I had time I'd post a great article about how TV viewership is "down" all across the board. It is just not like it used to be and the sooner the networks figure this out the better.

Ahhhhh.... I feel better now:

CBS, THE CW CONFIRM RENEWALS, CANCELLATIONS; FOX EXTENDS '24'
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Both CBS and the CW confirmed the bulk of their renewals and cancellations today as upfront week kicked into high gear.

Various sources have indicated the Eye has given firm go-aheads to 12 series - "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: Miami," "CSI: NY," "Ghost Whisperer," "How I Met Your Mother," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Rules of Engagement," "Shark," "The Unit," "Criminal Minds," "NUMB3RS" and "NCIS." - while "48 Hours Mystery," "60 Minutes," "The Amazing Race," "Cold Case," "Two and a Half Men" and "Without a Trace" are also expected to return.

Not making the cut: freshman drama "Jericho" as well as longshots "Close to Home" and "The Class."

Over on the CW, renewals have been issued to its signature reality series "America's Next Top Model," Monday comedies "Girlfriends" and "The Game," as well as dramas "Smallville," "Supernatural" and "One Tree Hill."

Also on track to return: "WWE Smackdown," "Beauty and the Geek" and potentially "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" should a second season format be worked out.

On the flip side, veteran comedy "All of Us" won't be returning for a fifth season while "Veronica Mars" is drifting towards cancellation as well.

As for its 2007-2008 freshman class, the netlet has confirmed three dramas - Josh Schwartz's "Gossip Girl," the Kevin Smith-helmed "Reaper" and U.K. import "Wild at Heart" - as well as one comedy - "Aliens in America," now a co-production of Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Network Television - have been given series orders.

In addition, the CW is expected to move forward with its alternative half-hours "CW Now," an "Entertainment Tonight"-esque look at pop culture, and "Online Nation" (previously known as "Viewsers"), an "America's Funniest Home Videos"-esque series for the YouTube generation.

Meanwhile over on FOX, the network has locked in "24" for two more seasons. The veteran drama had been widely expected to return despite a downtrend in its ratings and critical praise.

Series star Kiefer Sutherland is also set to return for both go-arounds as part of his multi-year production deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television.

Boooooo CBS! Yes the ratings were down but they were down for most shows. There were several articles out about how the long haitus hurt Jericho and Heroes. I really thought that CBS would take that into consideration.

As much as I love CSI, Without A Trace, Shark, they need something different and Jericho was that. I could care less about the new shows for the fall.

On a happier note, yay for The Unit's survival!

P.S. We need closure to Jericho now in the form of a two hour movie.

See what all those NUTS! were about, watch Jericho this Summer Fridays 9pm Eastern/8pm Central on CBS!

Assuming THE UNIT airs in the fall,
and all info suggests it will, the
door is open for at least some ratings
recovery. The unexpectedly explosive
finale last week opened up some hard-
hitting story lines, and picked up 1mm
viewers from just the previous week.

More of the same out of the gate next
season, with consistency, should at
least push this back in the range of
11mm+ viewers and easily clear the
3.0 18-49 baseline.
