Not sure what the political viewes have to do with anything, but did you know that CBS is #2 in the 18-49 Demo this season?? Yes, Better than ABC and NBC.

That's not a wholly accurate account of the numbers, and you know that bud...CBS' strongest suit is the older demos, and it has a handful of series which skew younger in large numbers (2.5 Men-coming up on 5 yrs old; CSI:Miami-6 yrs old; Survivor-8 yrs old; and CSI-8 yrs old) that, when averaged, present their 18-49s misleadingly high. To argue that the programming strength of CBS is anything other than older demos (even 25-54, I think is the category they like to use in press releases) is to mislead yourself. Look it up yourself, what is the average age of each network's viewers? And, while they currently rank 2nd overall in the 18-49 for the season, take a look at their average the second half of the season, or in the May sweeps. And take out Super Bowl figures. They are, indeed, at the cusp of being in trouble, hence many of the choices they have made for new series this year.

CSI NY would have been a lock for a 3.5+ 18-49 at Tues 10pm. Forget its (and everybody elses') slide this spring. Look at 3 yr body of work. You say it's lead-in dependent? CANE won't be lead-in dependent? An established, somewhat younger- slanting show was the order of the day in what is now a slack 18-49 hr.
Since they don't have much confidence in CANE, WAT was the compromise pick post CSI. Though I wasn't wowed by its numbers last thursday, it will grow some once re-established there.
Predicted comback of the year: UNIT. The explosive finale last week sets up, temporarily, a new series. Now the producers, whose handling of this series has been enigmatic, have to stay on the ball - they'll have 2-3 eps to prove they haven't returned to screwing around.
I'll take a look at the new shows, as I sample almost everything on all nets.
Perhaps "Unit" may experience a creative comeback, but in terms of ratings it could be in trouble. It must now face "Dancing With the Stars" year-round, and since the two have run opposite one another "Unit" has suffered a dramatic decline in audience levels (in the neighborhood of 20-25% I think). And, to add to the stress on the show, it now has to serve as a lead-in for the high-profile newcomer, "Cane".

Fair enough. As stated, they have a short window to get back some of that aud. Personally, I think the show administered a self-inflicted wound to itself this year more than anything else another show did. The 9pm hour proves on many nites there are up to 55mm viewers available for shows that are serving up the right fare. But possible doubts over UNIT was yet another reason to give CANE the CM lead-in and trust CSI NY to deliver competent numbers at 10 Tues.

Ah - at last I've seen a review from an actual viewer of the pilot: Viva Laughlin -- "It is different, but very good. I think this will surprise people." The full link is here.My facts will trump all this speculation from the naysayers TV-aholic.

They should have had a CSI with a vampire lead if they were going to be totally unoriginal but try to be original.

Or Jessica Fletcher could come back from the TV graveyard and solve the mysterious murders of the undead... Any crime drama can be made to look different if you just add a whacky angle to it...one guy touches people and brings them back to life so he can solve their murders...this other one is a private eye that is also a vampire!...and this other one has visions but also solves murders... Can you name these new series...?

I've seen the original show Viva Laughlin is based on (Viva Blackpool), and I thought it was pretty good. It's different, and may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'll at least take a look at it...
