Huh? Have I flashed back to 1970? I didn't think people thought this way since the CBS cancellations of Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction. quote: Originally posted by Anthony: They were on CBS, who's audience is more uneducated and rural.
Those shows are way too sophisticated for the IQ of a CBS viewer.

If you actually would discount a show because of the network it was on, I would tend to label you as uneducated and rural. Therefore, people who are uneducated and rural are watching anything but CBS. quote: Originally posted by Anthony: Re: Close To Home: I'm sure NBC or ABC would love to have a show that draws 10 million viewers a week regardless of 18-49...
I still stand by a statement I made earlier in the year that Jericho and The Class were good shows on the wrong network. They were on CBS, who's audience is more uneducated and rural.
Those shows are way too sophisticated for the IQ of a CBS viewer.
Yikes...nothing like twisting logic circles, is there... Statistically Anthony is fairly accurate (minus FOX and "American Idol"), but I think a couple of his favorite shows got cancelled and he's got a mad-on now and didn't choose the nicest way to make his case...

Smits was on NYPD:Blue for just over 4 seasons (91 eps per IMBD). Thats a pretty good number (Most for a Sipowicz Partner). The name recognition WILL help the initial sample. From there it will be the show. I guess we'll agree to disagree. quote: In promotion I have seen so far for this show, a lot of weight is being put on his "presense". He had a little more recognition value in "NYPD", for that occurred not too long after "Law" left the air. But that wasn't "his" vehicle, and if I recall he only stayed with the show for a short time. I believe he is a terrific actor, no slurring of his abilities is intended. But I don't think his name alone is what is needed to bring people in to this show.

WHAT?????? Do you have actual facts or are you just pulling random words out you a$$ ??? I watched every episode of The Class and "sophisticated" is NOT a word I would use to describe it. Jericho was just boring. I gave it 3 episodes. That is what killed it.

Yes but ABC should show gains and I expect CBS to drop pretty badly in certain hours such as Tuesday at 10, Sunday at 8, continued erosion on Monday, Thursday, and probably some dropoff on Friday. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: quote: As for the rest of this schedule, while Cane sounds interesting and honestly so does Moonlighting, the rest of this sounds like something made for NBC. I predit ABC beats CBS next year in households, viewers, and the demo. In fact, if it weren't for the Superbowl, I think ABC would win the whole thing.
I will sample all the new shows EXCEPT Viva Laughlin. Not into musicals of any kind. Doubt that ABC will take over as the most watched network from CBS. Their average is about 2.7 million less than CBS's right now (12.3 vs 9.6).

BL is not lead in dependent. Its numbers stay roughly the same regardless of the lead in. Cane will have the older skewing Unit as a lead in and a track record of failure there for CBS. It will be an uphill battle. A better option still would've been to launch Cane after CSI. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: A Look at Cane's Time Period
Going up against Boston Legal (ABC) and Law & Order: SVU (NBC).
If any new show will succeed for CBS in this slot, Cane will be it. SVU is starting to show some age and BL is very leadin dependent. Plus with Jimmy Smits and Hector Elizondo staring in the show, it looks like a possible 10pm winner. If CBS can get a portion of the growing Hispanic audience to come from Univision, then it could be really big.
Will be sampled big, good chance of winning the time period by November sweeps.

Not with what will be a dying Medium as a lead in. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: Will Lipstick Jungle sap enough viewers from Brothers and Sisters that Shark could actually win the time period come winter?

Well, Tuesdays at 10pm has not been a strong force (Repeats since Novemeber), despite the occational win over BL. At Worse, numbers will be the same. I agree with the Sunday at 8pm. I can see 5 million tops for VL. All other nights will stay even, in relationship to the other nets. We might see continued viewer erosion from all the nets.

I agree. The new CBS shows are certainly intersting. Cane sounds very good imo, but timeslot will probably kill it. Viva Laughlin is certainly like nothing else on TV and at least will have 60 Minutes and Football to give it promotion. Moonlighting is probably in a timeslot that it will do at least moderately well with. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: quote: Well, if people aren't smart enough to turn on CBS to watch these "intelligent" shows, then I really question this line of thought.

That's true x. Jericho fans should be happy for an entertaining year. quote: Originally posted by xwiseguyx: Well, many people (like Marc for example) said that Jericho wouldn't last 3 weeks. quote: Originally posted by Milcus: so, Jericho was cancelled for a show about 40 kids in New Mexico that wont last 3 weeks. Smart.
