Did you see the pilot or just saying this because you assume all Vampire related shows are the same?

I think NBC, being the network most in trouble, should have completely rehauled their schedule but in my opinion really didn't make enough major changes. Yes CBS is declining and skews older but only really has a few weak spots in their lineup. Would have made sense to move WAT to tuesday since it has proven it can do well in more than one timeslot. Would have used post CSI slot for new show. I think they are holding Christine to see how Big Bang does and I agree canceling Close to Home, one of their more consistent overall performers was probably a mistake.

Going up against Boston Legal (ABC) and Law & Order: SVU (NBC).
If any new show will succeed for CBS in this slot, Cane will be it. SVU is starting to show some age and BL is very leadin dependent. Plus with Jimmy Smits and Hector Elizondo staring in the show, it looks like a possible 10pm winner. If CBS can get a portion of the growing Hispanic audience to come from Univision, then it could be really big.
Will be sampled big, good chance of winning the time period by November sweeps.
I think you'll see a resurgence by "SVU" in the fall; Jimmy Smits doesn't have a good ratings track record on the nets, at least not since "L.A. Law". CBS is giving the 10pm Tue. time period the same lead-ins it had last season, which favor male viewers, and are starting what I am guessing would be a family-centered serial drama, which would skew female.
"Brothers and Sisters" was a freshman of this sort last season, but had a much better lead-in with "Desperate Housewives", the quintessential female-appeal drama. Given that advantage, plus airing on the highly-viewed Sunday night, "B&S" has managed a HH in the higher 7's-low 8's, and an 18-49 in the low 4's (nice, but not great). While "Cane's" Hispanic slant may bring in more Hispanic viewers, that same fact may also make it a harder sale in middle America, especially given today's current political climate.
What an underwhelming schedule. I don't know what surprises me more, moving WAT back to Thursdays, or having no established show (like SHARK or WAT on Tuesdays 10pm). ABC should look at the CBS and NBC schedules and reassess keeping BOSTON LEGAL where it's at. If LEGAL stays, this might not be a bad move for CBS.
Well, I'll stand with the minority here and say I'm looking forward to Viva Laughlin, and I'll enjoy it while it lasts. {Posters should insert "humorous" retort here.}
Otherwise, I'm glad to see CBS move WAT back to Thursdays; I gave up the show when they decided to keep that marble-mouthed Elena around, but my folks still watch it, and missed a bunch of episodes this season due to all of the football overruns.
As for the new shows... I hate reality shows, so Kid Nation is out, and the only others that sound interesting to me are Cane (anything that involves rum is fine by me ) and Swingtown (anything that involves Jack Davenport is fine by me). Of course, CBS is holding Swingtown for midseason (or possibly Showtime?), so I'll have to be patient.
Smits rating track record not good? - he did quite nicely on NYPD Blue did he not? And the West Wing was pretty much toast creatively by the time he joined and while the critics enjoyed, it didn't find a resurgence. (But you'd blame Smits for that?)
He hasn't starred in anything else to my knowledge (at least regularly).

Jimmy Smits not good on the nets???? Didn't he pump up NYPD Blue when he joined the show? Wasn't his death one of the highest rated for the series?
Didn't he do well with The West Wing, despite it was a Sinking Ship?
As for "Middle America", the fact that it HAS Jimmy Smits and Hector Alonzo, will bridge that gap. And I am not sure what "Political Climate" would sway viewers, either way, on this show.
His track record is pretty good. Better than most.. Better than a lot.

No, but I was a huge Buffy/Angel fan (still am to a point....I think the Buffy "Season 8" comics are great so far)....and just reading the plotline for that series, it just looks like an Angel dirivative.
