I see, with this schedule, CBS probably weakening, year-to-year, on each night except Thursday (and Saturday).

Monday and Tuesday they now have to deal with "DWTS", which has hurt Monday particularly hard; Wednesday they will now have to deal with "Private Practice" on ABC and a strengthened line-up on NBC; on Friday, "Moonlight", it's detective-slant notwithstanding, would have a limited appeal and weaken the time period I think, given how low-rated "Angel" was through it's run and the lack of success of other vampire network fare in the past, plus tougher competition from the stronger female line-up on ABC and the newly Tom Selleck-infused "Vegas" on NBC; and Sunday will show an overall weakening, with "Viva: Laughlin!" having genre-specific problems (anyone remember "Cop Rock" or "Rags to Riches"?),and "Shark" weakening its slot as well, unlikely to match what "Without a Trace" achieved here this past season.

Perhaps both ABC and NBC will have opporunity to advance next season...

I'm pretty disappointed by CBS's decisions. I don't see any of their new fall series lasting past 1 season. They should of at least ordered 13 episodes of Close to Home just because it's so strong. I kind of agree with CBS when they canceled Jericho. They need to put more emphesis on new series rather than work on how to bring one back. Jericho was strong but it was only bringing in 10 million a week. Could be better, could be worse. I'm glad they didn't move Shark to Tues at 10:00 against Boston Legal. But CBS should of put a known show in that timeslot. I would of moved The Unit up to 10:00. I'm glad they ordered a new comedy but I don't know how it will shine against DWTS.We'll see. I would of alos picked up The Class at least for 8 episodes. Just to have it......Maybe that's not a good business decision but as a fan I'll miss it. Maybe ABC could pick it up. Or maybe FOX. And again, not Saturday programming! Frowner Overall this is a pretty boring schedule with pilots that look like they're going to bomb.

I think it was smart of CBS to move Without a Trace back to Thursdays. It did much better there. I know a lot of people, especially with children that love the show but couldn't watch it on Sundays because they had to get their kids ready for the week.

KID NATION sounds interesting, but I bet the fat kid gets stoned to death. It always happens to the fat kids.

I want my TAR!!! They should have brought back Jericho ala LOST as a 16 episode series in the spring. Dam you CBS!

You will be sampling Viva Laughlin after ABC cancels Caveman. And I will so look forward to your summaries.

As for the rest of this schedule, while Cane sounds interesting and honestly so does Moonlighting, the rest of this sounds like something made for NBC. I predit ABC beats CBS next year in households, viewers, and the demo. In fact, if it weren't for the Superbowl, I think ABC would win the whole thing.

I will sample all the new shows EXCEPT Viva Laughlin. Not into musicals of any kind.

Doubt that ABC will take over as the most watched network from CBS. Their average is about 2.7 million less than CBS's right now (12.3 vs 9.6).

It will be a contest...I'll bet "Psychic Restaurant Medium" gets pulled first though...

Maybe MNTV will give it a boost by using its revival of Paradise Hotel as a lead-in. Smiler

Out of all the shows, Viva has the best chance of getting at least some buzz due to Hugh Jackman's involvement, but that's about it. It's a bland schedule, without any risks. Hell, they brought back a Thursday night block that should have remained split in order to build a new series in the hole that is Thursday at 10 rather than move back WaT.

Poor moves and pickups by Tassler. I bet Moonves won't be enjoying her company for too long.

I feel pretty safe right now.
VL will track just like Smith did last fall. Premiere big, but by episode 3, less than 50% of the viewers are still with the show.

All Cavemen has to do is be #3 in viewers and #2 in the Demo. I bet Cavemen will appeal to kids and male college students.

CBS will be a major disappointment next year, especially beacause most of their procedural shows are declining, and it also looks the weakest network (CW excluded) in the "new shows" category

A Look at Cane's Time Period

Going up against Boston Legal (ABC) and Law & Order: SVU (NBC).

If any new show will succeed for CBS in this slot, Cane will be it. SVU is starting to show some age and BL is very leadin dependent. Plus with Jimmy Smits and Hector Elizondo staring in the show, it looks like a possible 10pm winner. If CBS can get a portion of the growing Hispanic audience to come from Univision, then it could be really big.

Will be sampled big, good chance of winning the time period by November sweeps.

Will Lipstick Jungle sap enough viewers from Brothers and Sisters that Shark could actually win the time period come winter?

I liked "Moonlight"....when it was on the WB as "Angel"....Joss Whedon, get your lawyers ready.....

and "Kid Nation" could surprise me, but I'm extremely wary.....but CBS thought good enough to move from summer to fall...

I'm glad TAR got bumped to midseason...it'll give us time to get the bitter taste of Eric/Danielle winning out of our mouths..

and "Viva Laughlin" I think is in the perfect timeslot actually..."Extreme Makeover:Home Edition" is starting to show it's age, and it might place a strong second after the football game....

If any show is not leadin dependent it is Boston Legal.

Most new shows fail and CBS has a half dozen or more shows that repeat well so they should be fine.

No - Brothers & Sisters has a pretty loyal following at this point. I don't see people willing to switch at this time.
