I wouldn't have a problem with The Unit doing story-arcs, and I wholeheatedly agee that they should focus more on the homefront. That has always appealed more to me anyway. Regina Taylor kicks a$$!!!!
However, I have a strong feeling that we'll see The Unit on the air pretty soon, but not on Tuesday. Wednesday at 8:00 looks really good, as CBS will probably have an opening by November sweeps when Viva Crappin' in cancelled.

I like this show so much and enjoy both the Missions and the HomeFront .. The wives are great and all so pretty and the men are awesome and all so hot :-) I liked season 1 better than season 2 though for the wives plots and am hoping season 3 offer better wives stories ( CBS please renew this show ) .. However the counter top sex scene with Bob & Kim was SIZZLING SEXY ;-) I really do not watch much TV but this show is must see for me and despite a couple of lackluster episodes in season 2 I still like The Unit and will aways watch it . Regina Taylor and Audrey Marie Anderson are my top faves among the women and Scott , Dennis, and Max among the men :-)
Well honestly, the Man could probably pull a better demo number and that's what CBS is all about. A midseason deal would likely see it land back on Tuesday or possibly on Friday or Sunday.

And The Man could bring in worse demos and be a big mistake as often happens whenever a new series is introduced in place of one already established .. The Unit works great on Tuesdays and should be kept there too not bounced around which is never accomplishing anything .. Bring The Man on in one of the weaker nights and try it out thereby getting people to watch which would be more beneficial especially if people stick around .
I would like to see it and Jericho tested out midseason on Saturdays.
Well that's also possible, but CBS has an excellent track record with procedurals and the Man actually sounds like one of the better ones in while. LL Cool J and Melinda Clarke are very interesting leads. I think it would work but I agree that maybe waiting until midseason and something else crashes is a good idea as well. I highly doubt Viva Laughlin or whatever its called lasts very long.

Originally posted by ragincajun: Sorry, Pam, but I agree with the rest of the board although I am also a fan of the show. The Unit has lost a sizeable audience in term sof both overall viewers and the demo over the past season, and with the exception of the last couple of episodes, the quality of the show during the second half of the year has been horrible. I still can't get over that atrocious witch doctor episode.
I think this move is the best for both CBS and the show. The network gets to try out a new program that has the potential to bring in some additional viewers for the night, and The Unit has some additional time to produce some higher quality episodes. Personally, I think that they should 24-ize the show, and instead of having self-contained missions each episode, they should have a season-long mission to play alongside the continuing homefront storylines.
I have watched every UNIT ep, but if they end up off the schedule, the producers only have their annoying selves to blame.
The concept clearly wasn't working on a CONSISTENT basis during Sesaon I, yet they changed nothing. Season II showed flashes of excellence, but generally was a disjointed failure to blend the homefront and mission elements.
Then in the finale, they blow the roof off with the kind of intensity the show should have had all along, leaving me, at least, to say "Hello?, where has this been?"
Agree with above poster (hi Rajun, I'm over here these days), that this show cannot be formulaic. It didn't work. Lengthy arcs, with a better blend of the lives of these couples was the ticket. Regina Taylor largely disappeared in Season II, and some of the homefront story lines were border- line lame. I stayed with it because I love the Intelligence genre.
The producers are the bad guys here. Complacent, and very un-bold.

Well, NBC goes tomorrow. We'll find out complete details starting Tuesday and then on NBC when they change their schedule for the 5th time on Friday.
Reading more on that site, they gave a glowing review of Back to You with Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton. One can only hope this will lead to a renaissance of sorts in the comedy genre.
Now we have another rumored schedule...this one says The Unit and HIMYM are BOTH gone (tho HIMYM could be back at midseason), as is Close to Home and Jericho.....Thing is, I read Old Christine was only going to get 13 eps, so I'm not sure about this....Travis, have you heard anything new?
Moving beyond this discussion about THE UNIT, which I'm very glad is back, I like this point about "excellent track record with procedurals..."
It touches on another point: that I think CBS may have bought into some conventional wisdom and prematurely backed off the procedural and overall crime genre. Late season declines in its shows were mirrored by declines in other types of programming.
The underlying genre - crime - isn't ready to depart and CBS largely has the turf to itself. I'm out of most of their shows, but as recently as a few months ago 2 and 3 yr old CM and CSI NY were tearing it up ratings-wise.
What are they going to do, cool things off and then come back with a few more down the road when, the all-too-familiar argument goes, the genre supposedly will be in even further decline?
Who knows what held THE MAN back, or how much of a procedural it really was, but regardless, they should keep developing the genre.

CBS has the edge with drama series' and count me in as being happy about The Unit's renewal since it is one of the only three shows I watch or record & watch on a weekly basis ( the other two being Psych on USA and Prison Break on FOX ) .. I agree season 2 has some stinker episodes but all in all it still was great though I liked season 1 better for wives plots and husband/wives interaction though season 2 did get better toward the end of the season and in season 3 I'm hoping it improves moreso . I watch The Unit for both the men and women so I'm hoping the wives aren't being phased out as being speculated about since it would lose alot for me if that came to be I am hyped about the Bob infiltrating the CIA plot and it will be interesting seeing how that all plays out and the ramifications afterwards :-)
