My CBS fall lineup. I'm not big on picking shows that are new but I think the Man would be an excellent pick up for them. That said... Mondays: Christine Big Bang Theory 2.5 Men new comedy CSI:Miami
So Christine isn't a great fit so just lead off the night with her. Its also a last stand for that comedy. If it struggles, midseason filler becomes Christine's role and a new comedy slides Big Bang to 8pm and fills 8:30.
Tuesdays: NCIS The Unit Moonlight
I'll give Moonlight and the Unit 13. At midseason a new show goes 9pm and if they perform well (at least 3 demo and 10 million viewers)they share 10pm together and go repeat free.
Wednesdays: HIMYM Rules of Engagement Criminal Minds new drama (possibly the Man)
Time to utilize Criminal Minds and lets go comedies at 8pm. These two need to prove themselves to me.
Thursdays: Survivor (TAR midseason) CSI new drama (again possibly the Man)
Fridays: Ghost Whisperer Numb3rs (this hour is cake and Numb3rs could dominate imo) Shark
Saturdays: CBS Movie Night returns with mostly encores of previous made for titles in the past 10 years (there's oodles of goodies to show and air a few new holiday movies too). 48 Hours Mystery
Sundays: 60 Minutes Cold Case Without a Trace CSI:NY
This night needs major renovating starting with the return of Cold Case after 60 Minutes. If we want comedies here, then Cold Case, which is as older skewing as 60 Min. has to go elsewhere like Fridays at 9 or Tuesdays at 10 so there's at least half way younger skewing shows behind them.
Midseason: Previously mentioned TAR starting in December for Survivor, which shortens its seasons to 11 episodes and ends in November sweeps. Another new comedy and 2 new dramas. I'd also like some new reality shows waiting in the wings for perhaps some filling in during December.
Saturdays: 8:00 - Crimetime Encore 9:00 - Crimetime Encore 10:00 - 48 Hours
Sundays: 7:00 - 60 Minutes 8:00 - HIMYM 8:30 - Rules of Engagement 9:00 - Cold Case 10:00 - CSI:NY for Football overuns in the fall, only schedule 1 of the two sitcoms
Oh, I would use The Amazing Race as a replacement show, but be sure to order 2 seasons fo the show
SUNDAY 7PM - 60 Minutes (Remember the days when CBS had a full Sunday night comedy block?) 8PM - Big Bang Theory 8:30 - HIMYM or some other comedy 9PM - Christine 9:30 - New comedy 10PM - Cold Case
Welcome to the Captain is a gonner. It will not see April... ever. so it is not even a consideration for next season
I kind of like Amazing Race on Mondays at 8pm, but I would think it would get crushed by DWtS. No reason to subject it to that.
I prefer the SHark on Wednesdays at 8pm over the Comedies. Only 2.5 Men and, perhaps, BBT are strong enough to make it worth while. HIMYM, Christine, ROE are not strong enough for that tough hour.
Any schedule that has more sitcomes has to be good, so I liked AL's suggestion of a 2 hour block on Sundays, but need to also keep a 2 hour block on Mondays.
Perhaps this....
Sundays 8:00 - HIMYM 8:30 - New Comedy 9:00 - ROE 9:30 - Old Christine
Mondays 8:00 - BBT 8:30 - New Comedy 9:00 - 2.5 Men 9:30 - New Comedy

I think Amazing Race would do very well on Monday ay 8. I like it more against DWTS than against Extreme Madeover Home Edition. DWTS has an older audience than EMHE, and Amazing Race has a younger audience, so I think it would do well against DWTS. Most people's schedules have AR staying on Sunday's at 8, and it did not do well there. With the constant delays due to football and the competition from NBC Football and ABC EMHE and FOX comedies it just does not fit there.

DWtS averaged about a 5.3 demo rating for Monday Nights, this past fall, so its drawing plenty of Demo viewers.
Amazing race did fairly well on Sunday Nights, averaging about 11.5 million viewers and 3.5 in the Demo. Thats roughly about whay it did in the Fall of 2006. It did better than the Spring 07 edition of TAR, which was all over the place in the ratings, but looks to be about a 10 million, or less, viewer average.

I like that schedule AL. I don't think CBS will break up the Monday comedy block, but I would like to see what TAR would do on Mondays. DWTS is a strong show but so is EM-HE.

You are all going to send the guys with the straight jackets after me for this one - but CBS needs to be aggressive and get younger once and for all...
CBS
Monday 8:00 Big Bang Theory 8:30 Worst Week 9:00 Two And A Half Men 9:30 Rules Of Engaement 10:00 CSI: Miami
Tuesday 8:00 NCIS 9:00 The Unit 10:00 Numbers
CBS needs a familiar show here once and for all. “The Unit” does well enough to come back for one more shot. “Numbers” could perform better on a higher HUT night.
Wednesday 8:00 Ghost Whisperer 9:00 Meant To Be’s 10:00 CSI: New York
“Ghost Whisperer” has done very well on a low HUT night and could probably really grow into a 3.0 18-49 show on a better night. I toyed around with Sunday, but thought CBS could get something out of it here – and then lead in to a new show and use “Ghost” and “CSI: NY” as bookends. “Meant To Be’s” is like “Ghost Whisperer” meets “Medium” from Glenn Gordon Caron. The perfect fit with “Ghost Whisperer.”
Thursday 8:00 Survivor 9:00 CSI 10:00 Without A Trace
Friday 8:00 60 Minutes 9:00 The Price Is Right 10:00 Shark
This trio would be a sure fire winner in households and still probably deliver a 2.0-2.5 18-49.
Saturday 8:00 Crime Time 9:00 Crime Time 10:00 48 Hours Mystery
Sunday (Fall/Spring) 7:00 The Amazing Race 8:00 Cold Case 9:00 Criminal Minds 10:00 Flashpoint
It is time for CBS to take this night and get some younger demos. 60 Minutes many times places 4th 18-49 unless it has a super football lead-in. Give the more male-accessible, younger skewing “Amazing Race” a shot coming of out football – and move “60 Minutes” to the older skewing Friday – where it’s 65+ audience is usually home. CBS has ordered 13 episodes of “Flashpoint” and “Criminal Minds” could help CBS’s sagging Sunday ratings from 9-10pm.

Cold Case was also working when it was on at 8 and they moved it to 9. Without a Trace was working on Thursdays at 10 before they moved it last year to Sunday nights (and then moving it back to Thursdays this year).

While I kind of agree that CBS could do better in the demo moving 60 Minutes out of its Sunday 7PM time slot, I think we will all be dead before 60 Minutes loses its familiar home.

You know there are several weeks where 60 Minutes pulls a decent 2.5 to 3 demo for that slot and I doubt unless they moved a high profile crime drama there that they would get better overall viewer results.
