TMZ is reporting that John Mayer will host a variety series or music or sketch program of some sort. The eye wants it for early next year. Mayer scores primetime hosting gig at CBS

What happens to Cold Case and The Unit? Wednesdays? Fridays? Cancellation land?

If this is true and it does get a green light for early 2009, Sundays is the perfect day for it.

Were you the one who once posted the yawn emoticon as a response to one of my posts? Because that's the perfect emoticon for this trainwreck of a lineup.
With Million Dollar Password taking TAR's spot in the lineup in December, I could see this John Mayer series taking the Sundays at 8 slot once MDP ends its six-episode run.
It would seem to me that MDP/Mayer could fill the hole, time-wise between TAR tournaments, particularly if Mayer gets a six-episode commitment. If it does well, perhaps Mayer could get a summer run.

And so we have John Mayer on CBS, Rosie O'Donnell on NBC and the Osbournes on Fox with possible variety shows. All of a sudden, that poster that suggested a Derek/Julienne Hough variety show for ABC seems a little less half-baked. I guess every possible reality premise has been exhausted now.
