Make your roster here.

You can make roster now and change your roster at any time but the deadline for your FINAL ROSTER SUBMISSION is September 8, 2009 at 9:00pm ET, which is the date and time the first of the new fall shows (CW's Melrose Place) is planned to air.

Point breakdown

1. Points Based on Rank
Based on your personal rank, you will earn points for each of your shows regardless of when they get canceled: if the show you rank as #1 gets canceled at any time, you'll earn 50 points. ( #2 = 40 points; #3 = 30 points; #4 = 20 points; #5 = 10 points)

2. "Berman Bonus"
You'll get "Berman Bonus" points attached to every show, based on Marc's prediction of each series' odds of survival.

3. Unique Show Points
You get bonus points for picking unique shows (shows not commonly chosen by your fellow players)...

  • The formula to determine Unique Show points for one show is:
{ (Number of participants -1) - (Number of participants picking this show) } × 0.20

4. Duplicate Rank Deficit
... however, if you do pick similar shows like others, you are only penalized for ranking them the same as others. So for example, if everyone ranks "NCIS: Los Angeles" as their #1 show to be canceled, points are deducted from everyone's total.

  • The formula to determine Duplicate Rank Deficit for one show is:
{ (Number of participants picking this show and ranking it the same) } × - 0.20

5. "First Seven Canceled" Bonus
The actual first 7 canceled shows get bonuses:

  • First show that gets canceled this season earns you a 100% bonus
  • Second show = 85% bonus
  • Third show = 70%
  • Fourth show = 55% bonus
  • Fifth show = 40% bonus
  • Sixth show = 25% bonus
  • Seventh show = 10% bonus
  • Eighth show or later = 0% bonus but the number of one (1)

If more than one show airs its final episode on the same day, this is considered a TIE and I'd take the average percentage. For example, if news of the cancellation of the first two shows of the season happen on the same day, each show gets a bonus of 92.5%

Here's the mathematical formula for calculating the points of each show of your roster:

{ Points Based on Rank + "Berman Bonus" + Unique Show Points + Duplicate Rank Deficit }
×
"First Seven Canceled" bonus

Keep in mind that this contest ends on the final day of the May 2010 Sweeps.

Remember, as Marc Berman famously says, "the clock is ticking..." Big Grin
