Question: Lauren Graham headlining NBC's Office spin-off? Make it happen, Ben Silverman! — Joel Ausiello:Word around Universal City is that the big BS has another name in mind for Office 2.0, and it looks a little something like **a*** *e**. Which depresses me a little. It's not that **a*** *e** is a bad actress, I just think she's all wrong for this. Lauren Graham, on the other hand, is, well… my god, can you imagine?!
www.seat42f.com thinks the asterisk clue is Amanda Peet. Amanda Peet has done comedy before, but is she right for The Office spinoff? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Agree with the seat42f suggestion. Kristen Wiig would be great. Lauren Graham wouldn't be bad either, though I'd prefer Wiig, who is basically singlehandedly carrying SNL right now whenever I've watched.
Amanda Pete would be great. She is good at comedy. Lauren Graham would do well too. A lot would depend on the character(s) they would play. Without knowing that, it is pretty useless to speculate if an actress is right or not.
I have to agree, I think Amanda Peet would do an excellent job. Lauren Graham has a contract with NBC, so I'm sure they're find another series to put her in.
The Office may not be a hit with viewers, but its a hit with many other demographics. Also, you guys seem to be forgetting that the spinoff is launching after the superbowl, along with The Office. I'm not saying there's no way it'll flop, but exposure from the superbowl for both The Office and the spinoff, can only do good for each series, IMO.

Whell, when you consider that The Office may be the strongest show that have after LO: SVU and DOND, they need to do something to get viewers to come to their network.
Giving us a 3rd season of 30 Rock isn't gonna do it.

And diluting the Office with constant hour long episodes and now a spinoff won't help things in a year or two either. NBC will be lucky to get a true hit out of this upcoming season and I don't see this being it.

I think a lot of people will consider it the same series especially if a main character from the mother series is the character its centered around. If that makes any sense and do think spinoffs dilute the main hits. Case in point: Greys Anatomy and Private Practice. I like both but losing Addison on top of Burke really hurt the show.

I really do not want it to be Peet.
I've never even thought of Kristin Wiig playing the part but now that you mention, she would probably be really good at it.

I don't think anyone is expecting much here, which is why it'll easily surpass expectations.
She'd be good as a co-worker (Dwight-esque?), but she might get fired and then appear as about fifty different characters throughout the first season.

I agree. It just doesn't feel right, I mean just look at Joey. The only sitcom spin off whoich hs really worked is Frasier. And I don't think it makes sense airing it right after the main series, or is that just me?

Frasier was a spin-off?
