Heroes will be canceled? Roll Eyes

Well there is a high possibility that NBC's line - up will look that way. Athough The Office will stay around since Ben Silverman is one of the EP's. Throw in some remake shows ala Knight Rider.
Heroes could get moved to Fridays. NBC is known to have moved good Monday shows to Fridays where they get buried.

I guess April Fools came early this year Roll Eyes

Where is everyone sense of humor?

But there really was no humor... at all. Roll Eyes

Then we have a different taste in humor. Could be because I'm not from the US, or not.

Actually all the shows you mentioned were bombs on Friday nights. Third Watch did well on Mondays and then they moved it to Fridays and the ratings tumbled (very similar to Las Vegas). L&O: Trial By Jury and Medical Investigation were both complete bombs from the start. I don't either one lasted more than a few months.

Third Watch, Trial By Jury, and Medical Investigation all did much better than Inconceivable, The Book of Daniel, Conviction, Friday Night Lights, and Las Vegas on Friday nights.

TBJ didnt do as well as NBC hoped for, but I dont think you could call it a bomb. NBC would have probably kept that and MI, if they knew how badly their Friday nights would do in the years to come. Third Watch was also on Friday nights for a few seasons; and even though its ratings werent as high as Monday night, it was a stable player. NBC use to do well on Fridays, but then CBS had hits with Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs, and NBC began to fall behind.

As I recall TBJ was a mid-season replacement in the winter-spring of 05 and it did respectably well but was sliding, probably ended at around 10mm and less than a 3.0 and got somewhat beat by NUMBERS. Those ratings would look good now but that wasn't the thinking then. I also think TBJ was being groomed to be put out on another night and simply didn't put up L&O franchise type of numbers and may have been costly also.

MEDICAL INVESTIGATION was a bomb and I don't think it lasted a full season.

THIRD WATCH probably did a bit better than VEGAS but the net was stronger then, but the idea was the same, friday nite filler until it fell off the food chain.

CONVICTION was a misguided attempt to do a younger slanting legal drama with personal lives mixed in but it was a case of how hard it is to age target just by making the people younger and throwing in some flesh. It did do better than busts like INCONCEIVABLE and BOOK OF DANIEL but renewal was never in the offing.

Monday
Chuck/American Gladiators/Chuck
Heroes
Medium
Heroes & Medium at last!

Tuesday
The Biggest Loser (slimmed down to 90 minutes)
30 Rock (new time)
ER (new time)
Slim down Loser, give 30 Rock a place because you don't want to cancel it, and move ER to a safer time slot where maybe people will go to whenever they finish watching HOuse.

Wednesday
Deal or No Deal
All Rise (new series) / The Apprentice
Law & Order
Deal or No Deal and another legal drama by Dick Wolf to sandwich between Law & Order

Thursday
My Name is Earl
Kath & Kim (new series)
The Office
The IT Crowd OR Office Spin-Off (new series)
Law & Order SVU (new time)
I'm tempted to break up the comedy block and put half of it on Wednesday, but I doubt NBC will do that, so comedies and the strong SVU to inherit the ER slot.

Friday
Amne$ia
Lipstick Jungle (new time)
Life (new time)
It's guilty pleasures.

Sunday After Football
Deal Or No Deal
Knight Rider
Fear Itself
Something new.

And there is absolutely no way NBC can limit DOND to one night a week in the fall. I mean, it would actually be smart but there is no way they will do it.

Making some revisions (in italics) to my schedule on the previous page.

Crusoe is limited-run, and I don't like putting something limited-run in a slot like this, but based on its big budget I don't think it can go on Friday. Will want to have another show ready for the spring run of Heroes. Maybe WTKBBU favorite Blue Blood?

TUESDAY
8 - The Biggest Loser
9:30 - Kath & Kim
10 - Law & Order: SVU

Could also stick with two-hour BL and save K&K for midseason, but Biggest Loser remains a strong young adult grabber in fall that could boost a newbie.

WEDNESDAY
8 - Chuck
9 - Knight Rider
10 - Law & Order

I think one of L&O or Medium should be on the fall schedule in this slot, and I've switched over to L&O for now because of repeatability, and it seems slightly stronger than Medium of late. Will make the night more uniformly male-skewing.

THURSDAY
8 - My Name is Earl
8:30 - Zip
9 - The Office
9:30 - 30 Rock
10 - ER

FRIDAY
8 - Deal or No Deal
9 - 1 vs. 100
10 - The Listener

Really wanted to keep DOND at one night in fall, but it isn't working right now. If Fear Itself is a modest hit in the summer, I'm open to putting that on this night at 10 after The Listener, which as a pickup from CTV is probably much lower-cost than Crusoe. Fear Itself could easily pick up some of the GW/Moonlight crowd.

SATURDAY
8 - Knight Rider/Chuck/other repeats in fall; / Friday Night Lights in winter/spring
9 - Law & Order repeats in fall / Law & Order: CI in winter/spring

10 - Law & Order: SVU repeats

I remain a big believer in the notion that second-run shows should not be of high priority, not even Friday priority, so I'm sticking FNL and CI here.

MIDSEASON SUNDAY
7 - Dateline NBC
8 - Celebrity Apprentice
9 - Medium
10 - Life

I don't think this night flows very well, but I think this is the strongest collection of shows. In a pinch, CI and FNL could be considered for this night and for Friday, but I'd be pretty hesitant to do that.

STANDINGS | Congrats to week 11 winner Douglas! | Winter/Spring 2010 Top 5 (thru 3/17):
1. Douglas (3228) 2. spotupj (3032) 3. yankeesrj12 (2612) 4. Ammit (2480) 5. WlcmZ.Texas (2472)

Here is my updated schedule, based on changes over the last couple of weeks. (i.e. Friday Night Lights being picked up, Fear Itself being put on in the summer, Las Vegas being canceled)

This is not really a prediction, more of how I would do it.

SUNDAY - FALL
Football

SUNDAY - JANUARY
7PM - Dateline
8PM - Friday Night Lights
9PM - Knight Rider
10PM - ER (Do a 13-16 episode run to close out the series with no repeats)

MONDAY - FALL
8PM - DOND
9PM - Robinson Crusoe
10PM - Medium

MONDAY - JANUARY
8PM - American Gladiators
9PM - DOND
10PM - Medium

TUESDAY
8PM - Biggest Loser (please make it just 1 hour)
9PM - My Name is Earl (this is where the show began and has success)
9:30 - 30 Rock (I would drop it but I know NBC will keep it)
10PM - Law and Order SVU

WEDNESDAY
8PM - DOND
9PM - Life
10PM - Law and Order

THURSDAY
8PM - Office
8:30 - Kath and Kim
9PM - Chuck
10PM - Heroes / Heroes:Origins (this has been where NBC has always had their signature / top rated series and they need a strong player on Thursday nights again)

FRIDAY - FALL
8PM - 1 vs 100 / other game shows
9PM - 2 hour BermanBraun Action Adventure Reality Block (NBC has already committed to airing a 2 hour block of 10 episodes each)

FRIDAY - JANUARY
8PM - 1 vs 100 / other game shows
9PM - Listener
10PM - Law and Order Criminal Intent

SATURDAY
Repeats

WAITING ON THE BENCH
Philanthropist
Zip
Blue Blood

Here is my mine updated:

MONDAY
8:00 AMERICAN GLADIATORS
9:00 HEROES
10:00 MEDIUM

This is a good lineup that is Monday night familiar. MEDIUM has performed better than anything else on Monday for them.

TUESDAY
8:00 DATELINE NBC
9:00 THE BIGGEST LOSER
10:00 LAW & ORDER: SVU

This keeps TBL away from the one-hour AMERICAN IDOL in the winter. Plus, DATELINE has done OK for NBC as a utility player.

WEDNESDAY
8:00 KNIGHT RIDER
9:00 CHUCK
10:00 LAW & ORDER

This is a great male skewing/action night for NBC to combat the female skewing ABC

THURSDAY
8:00 THE OFFICE
8:30 MY NAME IS EARL
9:00 DEAL OR NO DEAL
10:00 ER

FRIDAY
8:00 1 VS. 100
9:00 LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT (repeats)
10:00 LIFE

SATURDAY
8:00 MOVIE

SUNDAY (JANUARY)
7:00 DATELINE NBC
8:00 CELEBRITY APPRENTICE
9:00 DEAL OR NO DEAL
10:00 TBD

This gives NBC a cheap post-Football alternative and they can slot a TBD drama in the 10pm slot.

I don't think there is a chance that NBC will hold Chuck back until January. With the writers strike that would mean 13 months off the air. I think NBC is going to give Chuck, Life, and Heroes (the 3 shows that did not come back this season with new episodes after the strike) big promotional pushes during the Olympics in August and they might even bring the shows back right after the Olympics are done in August. I could see this happening more so with Chuck and Life, 2 shows with low ratings already, then with Heroes.

As I said in my schedule post earlier in this thread, I think NBC should move Heroes to Thursdays at 10. NBC, who used to dominate Thursdays, could at least take back 1 hour on the night with this move. They could dominate the hour with this move, with CBS airing the older skewing Without a Trace and ABC airing a new show that will probably bomb.

I would personally like to see:

Thursday
8:00- The Office (New Timeslot)
8:30- My Name Is Earl (New Timeslot)
9:00- Heroes (New Timeslot)
10:00- NEW DRAMA

But with ER returning (most likely), I see they're Thursday night line-up staying the same. But moving Heroes to Thursday also creates the problem of what they might put on Monday.

Mondays have been fine with American Gladiators, DOND, and Medium. NBC also has the limited series, Robinson Crusoe, which they could use there when AG is taking a break.

We cant be completely sure NBC will have a 3rd edition of American Gladiators; its airing in the summer, so it most likely wont return until January (if it does). But it lost some steam by the time it ended so I guess we'll see how it does during the summer.

But on another note, I'm hoping that we see all these dramas on NBC at some point:

All Rise (done casting; ordered to pilot)
Blue Blood (done casting; ordered to pilot)
Kings (no casting; ordered to pilot)
Fear Itself (done casting; ordered to series)
The Listner (done casting; ordered to series)
The Philanthropist (no casting; ordered to series)
Robinson Crusoe (no casting; ordered to series)
Untitled Christian Slater Project (some casting; close to being ordered to series)

I think they all sound pretty interesting and NBC really needs to take some risks with their shows; but only a few of those are completely cast, so hopefully the cast for each series will come along nicely.

Then with NBC bringing back Heroes, Life, and, Chuck; and likely ER, Law & Order, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (and with likely second runs of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Friday Night Lights), I think NBC could have a strong drama line-up next season (with the right scheduling) ... but then there's Knight Rider which I dont even want to think about.

Las Vegas, Bionic Woman, and Journeyman arent returning, but I wonder if Medium will? Its in its 4th season so it can go into syndication (all ready is on Lifetime) and the show isnt as strong as it use to be, mainly because NBC moved it too much and it had a lot of chances to air after Heroes and NBC never did it, so I dont know if NBC cares enough to renew it.
