Saturday 8:00 - Repeat's of Drama's 9:00 - Movie (No Commercials)

Sunday (Mid-Season) 7:00 Dateline NBC 8:00 New Drama 9:00 Law and Order: Criminal Intent 10:00 New Series
KEY NOTES: *Cut down Deal or No Deal to one night before it get's old, and fast. *Cut down The Biggest Loser by 30 minutes. Two hours is way too long, but it still will bring in good ratings. *Split up all the Law and Order series. *Move Chuck with the rest of the comedies.
MONDAY 8 - Deal or No Deal 9 - Heroes 10 - The Listener
In its historically strongest spot, Deal will be diminished against Dancing, but should be kept relatively fresh for when it's needed to fill holes later. Between Dancings, go crazy with Million Dollar Mission and other stunts. Got to keep trying for gold post-Heroes.
TUESDAY 8 - The Biggest Loser 9:30 - Kath & Kim 10 - Law & Order: SVU
Like himym's idea here. Try for a Fall launch after a strong reality show reminiscent of what ABC did with Samantha Who?
WEDNESDAY 8 - Chuck 9 - Knight Rider 10 - Medium
Chuck, arguably the second-most promising new drama in all of '08 behind PP, should grow in a cushy slot. Knight Rider may be the next BW, but there's really no choice but to order to series after the movie ratings. Male-skewing Criminal Minds will hurt it, but a sandwich between these two shows will give it about as good a chance as it can get. Medium may well grow from its against-Lost numbers in the slot two years ago.
THURSDAY 8 - My Name is Earl 8:30 - Zip 9 - The Office 9:30 - 30 Rock 10 - ER
Earl and Zip seem compatible. NBC loves 30 Rock, so pairing it with its critically acclaimed AND high-rated comedy seems logical.
Honestly, this night could be a complete disaster, but then again it is Friday. Crusoe, which seems limited-run and thus shouldn't have post-Heroes IMO, may have a legit shot at picking up some of the GW/Moonlight crowd at 10pm.
SATURDAY 8 - Chuck/Knight Rider/Law & Order repeats 9 - Law & Order: CI repeats 10 - Law & Order: SVU repeats
Keep CI on Saturday for now. Might need to move into midweek if a lot of this bombs, but my thinking is that if it's moved to USA, it should not be high-priority on the NBC schedule. That just looks kind of pathetic.
MIDSEASON SUNDAY 7 - Dateline NBC 8 - American Gladiators 9 - Law & Order 10 - Life
Life will have a real chance against relatively light competition in this hour, unless CBS ships former competition CSI:NY over here to join it. If major holes need to be filled, L&O can move to midweek in October or November and Deal or No Deal can join the fray. I like having some flexibility with L&O and am not convinced it's strong enough to hold Wed 10pm at the beginning of fall.
Some general notes: The Biggest Loser will return in Fall I am sure - in the Tuesday time slot (no where else) and for at least 90 minutes. It is soooo cheap to make and does incredibly well in the demos that NBC would not want to reduce it and put a more expensive scripted show in its slot that will most likely do worse (I watch Biggest Loser and I think it should and could be decreased to 60/90 minutes but simply won't be due to the business/economic reasons behind it being 2 hours). Also, I think either Las Vegas and/or Friday Night Lights will be returning next season (I think either one will return for a 13 episode run - the last season for Las Vegas.) ER has been renewed for 22 eps (according to Eonline which is fairly accurate when it comes to these things). Heroes, Chuck and Life are all returning. All three L&O's are expected to return. American Gladiators is returning along with Sunday night football. I don't expect 30 Rock to be cancelled. Celebrity Apprentice will not return till Jan 09.
Monday: 8pm Deal or No Deal (brings broader audience to Heroes) - American Gladiators from Dec/Jan to Feb/March 9pm Heroes (Deal or No Deal when American Gladiators slots in above) 10pm The Listener/Medium (mid season)
Tuesday: 8pm The Biggest Loser 10pm Law & Order SVU
-No changes necessary to this very successful and cost effective night!
Wednesday: 8pm Chuck 9pm Life/ Law & Order CI (mid season if Life is not extended past 13 eps) OR New Show (such as Knight Rider) from mid-season 10pm Law & Order
- I think Chuck will do well away from male/younger skewing Prison Break/Prison Break Cherry Hill (it always posted an increase when Prison Break was in repeats or not on) -Knight Rider will not debut in Fall - I think NBC will want all eps produced before airing any so that they can quality control like they couldn't for Bionic Woman - and fix problems way in advance
Thursday: 8pm My Name is Earl 8:30pm 30 Rock 9pm The Office 9:30pm Kath & Kim/Zip 10pm ER (Not my choice - all ready renewed by NBC - and let's face it they're not going to move it to another night for its last season)
- I'm not sure if Zip has been picked up to series (I think only pilot) - Kath & Kim has been picked up to series. Zip/Kath & Kim could also slot in for 30 Rock should it not get renewed or simply get 13 episodes.
Friday: 8pm 1 vs 100 9pm Friday Night Lights/Las Vegas 10pm Las Vegas/Law & Order CI repeats/New Show
- Friday night is the hardest to predict, as the fates of Vegas and Lights have not yet been decided. Law & Order CI repeats would be a very good low cost solution to the lower HUT Friday night either from Fall or mid season onwards. - Debuting a new show on Friday is not ideal.
Sunday: 8pm Football MID-SEASON 8pm American Gladiators (move time-slot from Monday nights once Deal/Heroes combo returns) 9pm Knight Rider (if Life continues to be successful Wed or they slot L&O CI repeats in there) 10pm Robinson Crusoe OR Other New Show OR Medium (if The Listener is successful and gets picked up in Canada for more than 13 eps)
Some other notes: NBC must focus on LOW COST options, as their ratings are unlikely to increase much in the next few years. 2 hour Biggest Loser and recycling of CI are very good examples of this. Game shows Deal and 1 vs 100 are very good as well but must be used in moderation. "High class" reality shows such as Gladiators and Apprentice need to be employed but not overused. Purchasing The Listener from Canada is another good example of this low cost management - a scripted program for a fraction of the cost.
I dont think that article above exists anymore; for some reason, HR reported an article that was reported way back in November.
But TheFutonCritic has upped E and Serial Frank to "ordered to pilot" status. Their descriptions:
E- dramedy set in an ad agency that's desperate to land a major account Serial Frank- a single-camera series that depicts a young man whose life is turned upside-down when his normal life is constantly interrupted by the many unpredictable physical manifestations of his multiple personas that he acts out -- all unseen to others
Anyway, here's another sched NBC could do for next season:
MONDAY 8:00- "ROBINSON CRUSOE" (Fall)/ American Gladiators (Winter)/"ROBINSON CRUSOE" (Spring) 9:00- Heroes 10:00- Medium (Fall)/ "KNIGHT RIDER" (Winter)/ Medium (Spring)
TUESDAY 8:00- The Biggest Loser (Fall)/ Deal Or No Deal (Winter)/ The Biggest Loser (2hr Spring) 9:00- Chuck (Fall-Winter) 10:00- Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Fall)/ "BLUE BLOOD" (Winter)/ Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Spring)
WEDNESDAY 8:00- Deal Or No Deal 9:00- "ALL RISE" (Fall)/ "KINGS" (Winter)/ "ALL RISE" (Spring) 10:00- Law & Order
THURSDAY 8:00- My Name Is Earl (Sep-Mar)/ "SERIAL FRANK" (Mar-Apr)/ My Name Is Earl (Apr-May) 8:30- "KATH & KIM" (Fall)/ "ZIP" (Winter)/ "KATH & KIM" (Spring) 9:00- The Office 9:30- 30 Rock (New Timeslot; Sep-Mar)/ "MAN OF YOUR DREAMS" (Mar-Apr)/ 30 Rock (Apr-May) 10:00- E.R.
FRIDAY 8:00- Deal Or No Deal (Fall)/ 1 vs. 100 (Jan-May) 9:00- Life (New Timeslot; Fall)/ "THE INTERROGATOR" (Winter)/ Life (Spring) 10:00- Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Network Broadcast; New Timeslot; Fall)/ Dateline NBC (Jan-May)
SATURDAY 8:00-11:00- Various Programming
SUNDAY 7:00- Football Night In America 8:15- Sunday Night Football MIDSEASON 7:00- Dateline NBC 8:00- "TOP GEAR" (Winter)/ Deal Or No Deal (Spring) 9:00- The Celebrity Apprentice (New Timeslot; Winter)/ "E" (Spring) 10:00- "THE PHILANTHROPIST"
If NBC is serious about their 52-week schedule, I honestly believe they should have "waves" of premieres; first in late August/early September, then again in January, and then again in late March to early April. And also to reduce repeats, the network needs to do more miniseries and two hour movies.
Also, Las Vegas, Bionic Woman, Journeyman, and Scrubs are all scripted shows that have been confirmed arent returning (ABC will likely take Scrubs). FNL might have a chance but its fate is up in the air. Quarterlife performed terribly and so have "My Dad" and Amne$ia, so those probably wont return. But NBC did order six more scripts of Lipstick Jungle, so maybe they want it to return.

Decent schedule. But I don't think there a chance NBC would remove Law and Order SVU from the schedule at any time. It it really the only NBC show that performs decently in repeats.
Also, I see Knight Rider more of a show for an earlier time slot. I have a feeling NBC will hold it over for Sunday nights in January at 8 or 9 to make sure they get it right, trying to avoid the debacle that was Bionic Woman. Life on Friday's spells disaster, as it had trouble getting viewers on Wednesdays. And also, Apprentice bombed when it was on Sunday's last year, so i am not sure they would try Sunday's again.

I think Life could do well with DOND as a lead-in. And NBC once had success with crime/procedurals shows on Friday night (Third Watch, L&O: TBJ, Medical Investigation).
The Apprentice did bomb on Sunday last year, but I dont think NBC should affect its Thursday night line-up if its comedy block is successful; and Sunday is the only timeslot I think it could air. And if the cast of celebrities are interesting, that could hopefully help the ratings.
And as for Knight Rider, they're probably going to want to pair that with Heroes at some point, but I do agree that it should definitely be held off until midseason. Because if/when it does fail, it'll be easier to replace.

Actually all the shows you mentioned were bombs on Friday nights. Third Watch did well on Mondays and then they moved it to Fridays and the ratings tumbled (very similar to Las Vegas). L&O: Trial By Jury and Medical Investigation were both complete bombs from the start. I don't either one lasted more than a few months.

Third Watch, Trial By Jury, and Medical Investigation all did much better than Inconceivable, The Book of Daniel, Conviction, Friday Night Lights, and Las Vegas on Friday nights.
TBJ didnt do as well as NBC hoped for, but I dont think you could call it a bomb. NBC would have probably kept that and MI, if they knew how badly their Friday nights would do in the years to come. Third Watch was also on Friday nights for a few seasons; and even though its ratings werent as high as Monday night, it was a stable player. NBC use to do well on Fridays, but then CBS had hits with Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs, and NBC began to fall behind.

Well there is a high possibility that NBC's line - up will look that way. Athough The Office will stay around since Ben Silverman is one of the EP's. Throw in some remake shows ala Knight Rider. Heroes could get moved to Fridays. NBC is known to have moved good Monday shows to Fridays where they get buried.
