I seriously doubt NBC will make any changes to the fall lineup.

I happen to think NBC will probably revamp things at least once this summer.

I doubt it as well. There are newer ways to tease NBC these days than on sked changes. For better or worse, mainly for worse, they're kind of in their own world right now and I think it's been fairly evident the last two seasons they stopped gaming the schedule the way a net closer to the top does. And even had they gamed it better, a few shows would have improved but the net's overall status wouldn't have changed. As bad as their scheduling can be, it's been their inability to develop hits that has been the killer.

Further, nothing the other nets came up with in the upfronts threatens what NBC does have going for them. FOX throwing PB into the 9pm Monday hour won't threaten HEROES. WAT going into the 10pm Tues slot will make things more interesting but SVU won't move. DOND does what it does pretty much anywhere. THE OFFICE will go on. Their apparent big hope for the fall, WORST ENEMY, will make it or not regardless of facing MIAMI and BL. This ends the discussion of key NBC shows on the fall schedule, that's the problem.

Has anyone heard anything about how many episodes of Medium NBC ordered for next season? Because someone on another board said that at the upfronts this week, NBC said it was only ordering 13 episodes of Medium. Is this true?

Has anyone else heard this? Because if it is true, then this is just another example of how stupid NBC is. It was my understanding that they were going to bring it back in January and run a full season with no repeats like they did this year. And with their new year-round scheduling strategy and the limited number of new shows they've picked up, it seems strange to only order a half season of Medium.

Someone please tell me this is a mistake and that they've really ordered a full season!!

Will at least one change has been made with Kath & Kim moving to Thursday's and The Biggest Loser expanding back to 2 hours. I'm sure they'll be more.

I think these changes make sense...

- Kath & Kim should do better with a more compatible series, aka The Office.
- It's good that 30 Rock will premiere later in the season; I think this will be its last chance to do better in the ratings.
- The Biggest Loser expanding to two hours should give NBC a stable Tuesday night, but I think they could shorten it to one hour to launch a drama in between TBL and SVU.
- America's Got Talent will run into the fall season (The Biggest Loser and Deal Or No Deal will replace the series on Tuesday and Wednesday nights after it ends). Its unknown how AGT will do during the fall but it could hopefully be a nice lead into SVU and Lipstick Jungle.
- Crusoe seems to have a lot of potential (especially with the recent casting of Sam Neill and Sean Bean) but the fact that its on Friday may hurt the series. But its suppose to be a family targeted series so maybe NBC will revitalize Friday nights.
- Ice Road Truckers and Ax Men may be cable hits, but its unknown how a similar themed series, America's Toughest Job, will do on NBC. I guess we'll see.
- Deal Or No Deal will only be on Fridays for 3 weeks (before Crusoe premieres), so its good that NBC will only have one timeslot for Deal Or No Deal at one time (By the time DOND finishes on Friday, AGT could still be airing on Wednesdays at 9, before DOND takes its timeslot)

It may be that way in the beginning of fall, but not every series is going to be a hit and stay on the schedule. Once NBC cans the new series that are busts, DOND or L&O reruns will take their place, this always happens.

I dont think we'll be seeing Deal Or No Deal (or L&O repeats for that matter) used nearly as much as before. Mainly because there wont be a strike this time around (hopefully) and NBC has ordered many different shows.

If were to have a lot of shows fail, by midseason, they would still have these shows to air:

Blue Blood (New)
The Biggest Loser 7
The Celebrity Apprentice 2
Friday Night Lights (Repurposed episodes)
Kings (New)
Law & Order
Man of Your Dreams (New)
Medium
Merlin (New)
The Philanthropist (New)
Top Gear (New)
Untitled Office Spinoff (New)
Zip (New)

And thats not even including the other shows, like The Listener, that they have planned for next summer. And there's always the chance of more shows being ordered throughout the season.

I wasn't going to bother with Crusoe, but the addition of Sean Bean has sold me on it. I would watch Sean Bean sit in a chair doing nothing for an hour.

I'm also looking forwards to Merlin now. It had canceled written all over it, so I wasn't going to waste my time. But I've found out that the BBC is airing it, so it will have a whole season. (For anyone not familiar with British tv, shows there are made with the intent of only having one series, usually between 6 and 13 episodes. If they are popular then additional series are made. This means that shows don't just disappear from the schedule with no proper ending.)

I read the scripts for "My Own Worst Enemy" and "Kings," and they were both really, really, well done, especially Kings (I liked it more than the script of Dollhouse and the (rough draft) pilot of Fringe). I definitely think NBC has to really good shows on their schedule (better than any of the new dramas they premiered last season), so I'm hoping they both last.

My Own Worst Enemy really reminded me of Alias (there's much more to the show than just the basic premise of Christian Slater playing a jekyll/hyde type character) and Kings is probably the most ambitious pilot since Lost. It takes place in a alternate reality, where there is Monarchy (but still technology like cars, cell phone, internet, etc) and there's a war going on with a neighboring nation. Its loosely based off the biblical David & Goliath story.

NBC has snagged James Purefoy to play The Philanthropist.

If they are just planning to snag every drop dead sexy man in the 40+ set, I'm completely in. Between Tony Head in Merlin, Sean Bean in Crusoe, Ian McShane in Kings and now this, I'm starting to really look forwards to fall on NBC. I just hope they let them use their own accents rather than affecting boring/bad American ones.

Sad to see that The Saint is on hold though. I was looking forwards to an update of that one.

Now that the ratings are out, I'm sure NBC will be making some changes to their Summer 2009 schedule.

Very questionable that they would keep Last Comic Standing, American Gladiators and perhaps Nashville Star on the schedule.

I'm sure NBC would love to keep the momentum going after the Olympics are over. What are you suggesting to replace those shows?

Other than moving some series debuts up, I don't really see them having anything else to put on. And if they do, then why weren't they airing them to start with?

wiseguy was talking about Summer 2009.

Remember when NBC announced their "complete" 52 week schedule?

All 3 of those shows x mentioned appear on that schedule.
