Why does NBC treat Medium like dirt? It keeps getting moved around.

It used to pull in 13 million, but with NBC throwing it in random slots, viewers get more and more confused, thus not tuning in.

I just don't understand, it's a show with so much potential, but NBC doesn't seem to get it. Just like ABC with Boston Legal.

I think one of the reasons that NBC treats Medium so badly is because it is CBS Paramount production. Altough that reason can be rebuffed by the bad treatment of Las Vegas, a NBC Universal production. Secondly, Medium is a show that stands on its own. It doesn't need huge promotions or a great lead-in or a constant timeslot to generate great numbers. Or simply the big guys at NBC don'tlike the show.

The problem for Life is that FNL is their lead-in. FNL seriously damages its lead-outs. Las Vegas being the proof of it this season. You would think NBC has learned their lesson by now. If NBC switches their timeslots than Life has a fairly good chance of surviving on Fridays.

Just my 2 cents

Medium was one of those shows that the current chief (Ben Silverman) doesn't have any attachment too. Reilly didn't either. It was before their time along with Law and Order, the spinoffs, ER, and Vegas. All of them were shows that they just figured needed to move on for the new execs "better" projects. Of course, as we all know, Crossing Jordan, Vegas, and Medium still had plenty of gas in them (well, maybe not CJ but enough for last season to air on Fridays). And NBC does play in-house favorites too.

Yes and everyone knows that NBC Sundays suck post-football so why not just schedule repeats of FNL and Criminal Intent for there in the first place and maybe try that new cop show Blue Blood at 10pm?

I think Silverman wants to start a "new" NBC and eventually get rid of all the older shows from Reilly's early years and before that. Scrubs isnt returning and ER will finally be ending next season. Law & Order will likely be the only franchise that will last on the network for a while and Medium likely has a season or two left in it.

Silverman cant even take credit for the critical and/or ratings successful shows like Heroes, 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, My Name Is Earl, Chuck, and Life, (though most of them just liked by critics) but The Office, since he's an executive producer.

With NBC having the Olympics, Sunday Night Football, the Golden Globes, and the Superbowl, Silverman should hopefully be able to successfully launch at least a few new shows, and if they dont, then there is no hope of NBC getting out of 4th place.

If NBC only had one show that scores good in viewers like CSI: and/or one show that scores good in the demo like Grey's Anatomy or Desperate Housewives. They could have a new show lead out of that show. Creating at least 1 night they can dominate on.

I think that's the current problem with NBC right now, they don't have a massive hit. They used to: Deal or No Deal. Back a year ago, even, Deal or No Deal pulled in 20 million, but of course, NBC had to air it 3 times a week, thus killing the show.

If NBC had another massive hit that pulled in 20 million like Grey's, Housewives, CSI, House, Idol, etc., then they could debut other shows out of them, and have success. Otherwise, they're in the dump.

None of NBC's new shows sound like they could be massive hits, but I never thought Lost would be as big as it was, and the same can be said for Grey's Anatomy.

I think NBC should work on finding maybe one or two new shows that are decent hits, like getting 11-13 million viewers on average and have a decent adults 18-49 demo. I think Kings has the most potential (but it may not even go to series if the tv movie in September does poorly). I also think Blue Blood has a lot of potential, just because its definitely a familiar genre that could appeal to a lot of audiences.

NBC could use the Superbowl to launch a new drama, but I think its best they use it to make The Office an actual hit (and hopefully its spinoff).

There are so many weak links in this NBC schedule. How can they want to keep Thursday a virtual clone of this season with ratings slipping and 30 Rock acting as a black hole bringing Earl and The Office down with it? Assuming the other networks aren't going to radically change anything either, I can just see NBC's viewership sinking lower and lower.

Maybe a smart thing to do would be to swap places with Monday or Tuesday. CBS's comedy block could use some competition (the CW's comedies weren't any) and Heroes might do some damage to Greys & CSI. Earl used to to well on Tuesdays (and it was once home to Frasier) and come Idol season, NCIS has proved that there is a possibility of doing well against FOX. I don't know. It's just a thought.

Oh and by their proposed Winter lineup, it looks like they're trying to kill Life. (no pun intended)

I think the bigger issue for that show is surviving the fall. If it can earn the back 9, I have a feeling they will find a way to keep giving it the Deal lead-in. Blowing it on FNL at that point would be almost unforgivable.

Yes, I've said before that Life at 10 PM Friday is going to kill the show. If Numbers stays at Friday 10 PM, you have two shows playing for the same audience. It seems as if they are choosing Lipstick Jungle over Life in their time slot selections which I believe is a mistake.

NBC did choose LJ over Life for a better timeslot. But at least Life will have DOND as a lead-in, so I dont think its automatically DOA, but it'll probably go down in ratings when FNL is its leadin. But I think LJ has more potential than Life and NBC wants LJ to do well since they have no other show that targets women as much.

Also, NBC's website states that their fall season starts Monday, September 8th. Heroes premieres with a two hour episode and recap the following Monday, and I'm guessing The Biggest Loser will start either that week or the week before. But overall, the net should have a jump start on the season compared to everything else, except for FOX.

With its wide variety of shows, promotion is actually setup to be difficult. Any number of its shows are difficult to promote on any one show. They have no core genre.

I think that's very true. The only thing that these new shows have in common, is that they are all likely to be canceled (and I think they all look like crap).

What has Patricia Arquette done to make NBC hate her so much?

She actually looks like a normal woman, and they can't market that as sexy to 20-30 year old men. I think NBC would love to kill Medium, but it just won't die. Personally, I think it's the best show on their schedule. Not that my opinion matters any.

Has Christian Slater lost his mind?

The CW is starting on September 1st.

CBS and ABC are still strongly considering earlier starts to their season too.

So...When does NBC announce all the changes to the line-up now that they've seen what the other networks are planning?
