And does NBC think this will fall through?

I smell failure. Big failure.

Yea, Jimmy Failure... er .... Fallon, has been the guy they have wanted for quite a while now. The first I heard about it was last summer.

No wonder stockholders are wanting GE to sell of the NBCU parts of the company.

I guess that means Jimmy Kimmel can move up a spot.

I don't see that working out. Jimmy Fallon is very polarizing.

NBC late night will suffer greatly with the loss of Leno. Going from Leno to Conan is a step down, and going from Conan to Fallon is a step down.

I agree, NBC's late night will implode next year.

Going from Leno to Conan is like falling off a cliff. Dave is dancing with delight. Going from Conan to Fallon is like falling off the face of the earth into a black hole full of According to Jim level humor. Chalk up some more victories for Craig Ferguson too. The key imo is where Leno will end up. He won't retire. Fox has to licking their lips. He'd be good for them I think. ABC also should consider ending the worthless Nightline (hello we live in the cable news/internet era) and give him the 11:30 slot and shove Jimmy back an hour.

I think we'll see Leno moving to ABC. But i'm not so sure he'll do a late night show.

If he did some sort of primetime variety hour, it could outdo the stuff NBC regularly airs in primetime.

It is interesting, he could stay, or he could go, but can't be back until Jan 2010.

NBC isn't just letting him go, they want him back, I guess it is up to Leno to stay or to try to create and maintain a new late night show with The Tonight Show and Late Night already being established in the hour.

Seems like I am the only one who prefers Conan over Leno. I am glad he will take over from Leno. I don't have an opinion on Fallon since I haven't seen his works.

To me, I think that Leno should do what Letterman did years ago and just change networks. He could go to FOX (hopefully, they'll have added an extra hour of programming to each night by then) and bring his viewers with him and help establish them in the late night game for a nice pay raise and more respect than NBC is showing him.

I like both Leno and Conan, but Jimmy Fallon is a horrible choice. He's not funny at all and seems to rely on seeming cute.
