NIGHT-BY-NIGHT PRIMETIME STRATEGY

MONDAY
Monday should remain strong for NBC. Mostly unchanged with the exception of adding the highly compatible Medium to the post-Heros 10:00 pm slot.

TUESDAY
8pm kicks off with some the reality show that gave NBC it's biggest non-Olympics Tuesday and then into The Office & 30 Rock to help fight FOX's House, then tried and true L&O:SVU staple.

WEDNESDAY
The night get's completely refreshed with a transplat on NBC's reality Hit, then into a returning bubble drama and into the most buzzed about drama. Vegas and Lipstick can be flipped if needed.

THURSDAY
Cheap reality hit takes the 8pm hour, Earl moves back to 9 to fight the Titians and has a ridiculous premise companion with the Jenny McCarthy face, then into the final season of ER.

FRIDAY
Again cheap reality in the 8pm hour, then a new cop show followed by a returning Cop show.

SATURDAY
"Dateline Saturday" will continue at 8 pm and encore telecasts of NBC dramas will run at 9 pm and 10 pm.

SUNDAY
"Sunday Night Football" did great last year and can do it again. When the season is over, Friday Night Lights might be able to keep these viewers and Law & Order and The Apprentice should be able to steal some eyes away from ABC and FOX. If needed, L&O and The Apprenice's timeslots can be swapped.

I know NBC wanted to get rid of expensive scripted programming in the 8pm hour, so this schedule does that. I also only put Deal on twice a week. I don't want to deal with another Who Wants to Be a Millionaire fallout. Maybe Crossing Jordon can be back midseason w/ Scrubs.

I think this schedule looks pretty realistic. Good Job. NBC needs to move Medium back to Mondays at 10:00. I hope they keep Thank God You're Here. I love that show and I think it fits with NBC's comedies. I really don't care if NBC picks up Scrubs. Although, I think it would be a mistake for ABC to renew scrubs. I would rather see NBC renew Crossing Jordan than Scrubs. Just last year Crossing Jordan was averaging 10-11 million viewers a week. NBC brought it back quickly with not much promotion on anight NBC has no standing ground what so ever. On top of that it airs against Idol and Criminal Minds. How did they expect it to survive. It did make a small dent on the night.

Yeah, let's hope a 2.4 in the demo Wednesday is not to high for renewal at The Peacock. Big Grin

Well I've been thinking about how in the world NBC could at least get back to averaging a 3 among 18-49s. So here's my thoughts on what should happen. Probably not what will happen though. Wink
Monday:
Deal or No Deal
Heroes
New Drama

This is NBC's signature night. The most compatible new drama for post-Heroes goes there(Bionic Woman, whatever).

Tuesday:
1 vs. 100
My Name is Earl
new comedy
SVU

I think 1 vs. 100 could be a much bigger deal on a better night. I also think it can withstand Idol to a solid extent (6 million, 2 among 18-49s).

Wednesday:
new drama
The Biggest Loser/Dateline
Law and Order

The best new drama leads off a Wed. lineup in a weak time period. The Biggest Loser and Dateline are wide skewing programs that will give the final season of Law and Order a solid lead in.

Thursday:
The Office
30 Rock
Deal or No Deal
ER/new drama

The Office and 30 Rock are probably a decent pairing, perhaps an earlier timeslot will help 30 Rock (I'm guessing not but it will be on the schedule). Deal or No Deal can handle the Greys/CSI combo better than anything else. Then run ER repeat free thru Feb. and launch a new drama, maybe Lipstick Jungle at 10 in March.

Friday:
Crossing Jordan
Las Vegas
Medium

All 3 are very compatible and there have been report that CJ is coming back. Maybe just 13 episodes for each in case something doesn't click, but I think this would work. Air repeats of the past season all summer so fans can find them and catch up and utilize the online player for even more exposure.

Saturday:
Why even post something.

Sunday:
SNF (fall)

January:
Dateline
Movies

March:
Dateline
Friday Night Lights
Law and Order: CI
new drama

Okay so Sunday is complicated. By launching stuff in January its a death wish against the Superbowl, NFL playoffs, Grammys, etc. So wait til March when stuff is in repeats and go with 13 episodes of Lights, Criminal Intent, and a new drama. Extend them into the summer or air extra Monday episodes during Heroes repeat periods to get installments aired by the end of the season.

So Mush, the numbers for Thank God You're Here are too high for renewal?

I left that one out. I think that could return as a midseason replacement for the Biggest Loser in late October/November and then Dateline can take over. Dateline was a good companion for Law and Order last season on Wed. I think it would be again.

That's a pretty good schedule, although I think if NBC picks up Journeyman, they'll put it in the Monday slot after Heroes. From what I hear, they're pretty high on Lipstick Jungle too, so if L&O gets dropped, maybe they'll put it in the Wed. slot after Biggest Loser. I would love to see them move Medium back to Mondays, and maybe put Journeyman and Bionic Woman on Wednesdays after Biggest Loser and put Lipstick Jungle on Friday after Las Vegas and Crossing Jordan.

Ya NBC is a real wildcard, because they honestly have nothing to lose.

October Road is on ABC. And, yes, I do believe that most are trying to forget it.

When The CW announced that they wanted to become known as The Fifth Netowrk someone at NBC said "I think we can beat them to it". All the executives than viewed the presentation that he set up and they all agreed that they should try and become known as The Fifth Network. There first goal is put shows on that have no mass appeal this way people can forget about them. They believe that by 2016 they can become the fifth network while The CW will have to be stuck with 4th place. Poor CW, their dreams will be crushed. Frowner

I really wish networks would cut down on reality shows and game shows........they are beginning to get over done...........I don't even watch any at all.

Well they are cheap to produce, and since some of them become big hits it is worth risking. If more people were watching scripted shows then this wouldn't be a problem.

I think its okay to have a few but sometimes I think they get out of hand when they start making all those ridiculous ones.
