So what are your thoughts for NBC now that the strike is over. For me... not a whole lot. Keep in mind shows like Chuck may not return with new eps this spring but judging NBC, I think it will. I also think Heroes is off til fall but that Life may return this spring.
Monday: Chuck DOND Medium
Tuesdays: Biggest Loser 2 hours then Tuesday editions of 1 vs. 100 and the new Marc Burnett gameshow L&O: SVU
Wednesday: DOND Criminal Intent Law and Order
Thursday: Earl repeats Office repeats Apprentice Lipstick Jungle Once Apprentice is over: Earl 30 Rock Office Scubs final episodes ER final episodes
Fridays: Dateline Life Las Vegas final episodes
Saturday: Law and Order repeats
Sunday: Dateline NBC (2 hours) The Baby Borrowers Quarterlife
NBC is really screwed whether the strike ends or not. They have nothing really to utilize. Too bad they killed off Crossing Jordan last year. That could've been a solid player somewhere on their schedule.
Good question. Knowing how much Silverman loves reality and unscripted shows, he may just keep those on the air and not try to rush the scripted shows back on the air until early fall. Someone who is a BTL worker said that they were told that even after the strike ends, it could be up to two months before production resumes. So it depends on how desperate the nets are to resume their regular scheduling? The way NBC has been doing with their reality programming, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't try to rush their scripted shows back into production.
I think that shows like Chuck, Medium, and the usual fare like 30 Rock, The Office, and ER, as well as the L&O skein, will all resume production fairly quickly, and NBC will use their reality shows like AG, Baby Borrowers, and Quarterlife,as well as the ubiquitous DoND, to fill their schedule. Other shows could be held back until fall. I do disagree about Crossing Jordan, though. that show was on its way out long before it was yanked. It had been circling the drain, creatively, for the better part of its last two seasons.
Even if no Chuck originals, I would start rerunning it there. It would be a bad idea to keep this virtually invisible for about 9 months. Doesn't seem like a show that would repeat horribly, especially based on early Reaper repeat numbers.
TUESDAY 8 - Biggest Loser 10 - SVU
WEDNESDAY 8 - Deal (maybe another game show) 9 - L&O: CI (possibly put reality here and move CI to Fridays at 9, depending on whether they want to bring back FNL) 10 - L&O
THURSDAY 8 - My Name is Earl 8:30 - 30 Rock 9 - The Office 9:30 - Scrubs final eps 10 - ER (maybe final eps)
Could be an interesting situation here if Lipstick Jungle hits, but I'm not holding my breath.
FRIDAY 8 - 1 vs. 100/Amne$ia 9 - Friday Night Lights 10 - Las Vegas final eps
SUNDAY 7 - Dateline 8 - Deal or No Deal 9 - Quarterlife 10 - Life - another situation where you rerun it even if no originals... prepare for Sunday midseason spot in 2009
Another relatively conservative lineup by me. I will try to get more creative when we start doing fall speculations, but I generally think that for now, without brand new shows in the mix, familiar time slots are usually the best choice.

One question implicitly raised here is whether nets want to try to fire up the engines in the often lower rated spring period.
With newer shows, they have this question: do they want spring eps to be tiebreakers for renewals, or might they think results would be inconclusive?
If any production is viable, I would look for the L&O's, which I've heard can be cranked out quickly.
Also, probable wrapups for VEGAS, FNL. ER, more of a question for this year - perhaps a brief arc next season.
I think with HEROES, they may be afraid to do anything half-baked. Fans of that show seem to be highly critical of what it does.
Yes, CROSSING JORDAN was well-decimated by last year. The phase out of that began 3 seasons or more ago.

Really, even if the strike ends this month. We will not see new scripted programming into April or May. A few shows could have 4-7 episode runs. Does it make sense to waste shows in April and May when viewership is notably lower.
I expect a handful of Law & Order episodes (all varieties), I think that "VEGAS" and "FNL" will return in the fall if at all.
Its too bad that "CROSSING JORDAN" really died when Jill Hennessy took her mat leave and had her kid. Really, Jill Hennessy should have been contractually prohibited from having a baby when her show was so hot. Although the quality of the show was still there. Many viewers had abandoned it when it moved to Sundays and later Wednesdays.
I'm not to sure what will happen with "ER" as a Spring return sound would be really awful in the ratings.
I'd love to see a short return for "HEROES" followed by a season renewal for next fall. Also I really hope that they return with "MEDIUM" in the fall back in its original Mondays at 10/9c timeslot.
Although I like "LIFE" and "CHUCK", I don't see either returning.
In the long term I would love to see NBC give the 10/9c hour to affiliates who could program it with local news. We have seen a significant decline in viewers in the 10/9c hour, do we really need 3 networks programming the hour? Moving the "TONIGHT SHOW" to 11/10c may bring in more viewers to the show and improve it profitability for the network.
