NBC picks up adventure-themed reality series
BermanBraun scored dueling pieces of good news Wednesday, landing a return date for ABC gamer ``Duel'' and earning a pickup for a new reality competish on NBC.
Peacock has greenlit the adventure-themed ``I Can Do That,'' the first project to come out of BermanBraun and Original Prods.' deal with the network to come up with a primetime block of programming.

As part of the deal, NBC pre-ordered three series from BermanBraun and Original, with at least three more from the companies beyond that (Daily Variety, Dec. 3). BermanBraun principals Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun will exec produce, with Original's Thom Beers (``Deadliest Catch'').

``I Can Do That'' will follow contestants as they take on difficult physical and mental challenges during a 50-day road trip around America.

Show is holding casting calls in Los Angeles, Boston, Austin, Denver and Tampa.

``It will take more than pure brute strength to win this competition,'' according to the casting sheet's description. ``It will take verve, perseverance, fortitude and the ability to psyche out your opponents when everyone else is cracking under the pressure.''

Winners will receive an undisclosed cash prize.

``Duel'' returns with 10 episodes on ABC starting Friday, April 4 at 9 p.m. (where repeats currently air).

Unlike December's tournament-style setup, in which the competish was spread out over six nights (with one out of 20 players scoring the $1.795 million jackpot), each week will feature a different set of contestants. They'll either duel with the previous week's winner or a new opponent, in a bid to take home a $500,000 jackpot.

Mike Greenberg is back as host. Berman and Braun exec produce, along with Rocket Science Laboratories' Chris Cowan, Jean Michel Michenaud and Charles Duncombe. French TV's David Rosconval and Francis Vacher also exec produce.

I wonder if I Can Do That can be renamed No One Will Watch That. I don't see the appeal of this show at all.

Yes, and at the same time we could rename K-Ville to No One Watch-Ville.
