I think next year they should air the final season of ER right away and then in March launch something this young male skewing comedy block would stick around for. Maybe superheroish or even a cop drama of some sort. If it fails, then I agree trying SVU may be the best option.

ER and SVU should definitely not swap timeslots. SVU is a strong player, but both shows would probably go even further down in the ratings if that were to happen.

I think NBC should take a chance and air a new drama in the fall on Thursday at 10pm and then ER could have a straight run from January to May, that way NBC could hype up the final season; especially with guest stars or returning faces, etc.

I think All Rise, Blue Blood, or Kings would be their best bets if they wanted to air a new drama at 10 (and they're all male-skewing dramas). If they want really young audiences, then they should go for Blue Blood, especially since its an ensemble cast about young detectives. But I do think that out of those three dramas, that for one of them to air on Thursday, they'd have to be critically acclaimed and/or have a great cast. Because any buzz could help.

I can't believe NBC is doing better than in the Fall with such a line-up. It's going to be more and more difficult for scripted shows to get a place on NBC's schedule.

That depends. A show would be a lock to get on the lineup if it had 'Law & Order' as part of its title. This marks the 4th week in a row that NBC has had 8 hours of Law & Order 'variety' in their ~22 hour lineup.
Week of March 23rd:
8 hours of L&O versions
4 hours of Dateline.
2 hours of DoND
2 hours of The Biggest Loser
2 hours of The Apprentice

After a fall where there was only two hours of Law & Order on the sked (Tuesday and Saturday), NBC is really running this series into the ground with over-scheduling in the spring.

Once again, I've completely lost interest in the Law & Order franchise.

You and me, Dumont but apparantely the majority of people aren't tired of watching multiple verions of L&O and multiple editions of DOND week in and week out. And the general public is more interested in watching DOND and The Apprentice then My Name Is Earl, 30 Rock and Scrubs. This will make NBC favor these programs instead of new and original scripted programming.

8 hours of L&O versions wasn't enough? This week they aired 9 hours of that template with 8 of the 9 being 'reruns'?
Meanwhile, their top show (2 hr finale of Apprentice) is now gone.

Thats a lot of Law & Order... but what do you expect them to do? If they were airing repeats of Chuck or Life or Heroes, then people would just complain when that they dont repeat as well as L&O. Its like people are almost forgetting that there was a strike and they were pretty much forced to do this.

I agree that without the WGA strike, NBC would have Chuck, Heroes, and Life to keep airing. Still, CBS had the strike too and I don't see 9 hours of CSI from them.

BAD week.

6 hours of Law and Order.
Psych and Monk bombed badly.
12 programs in the 4 - 5 million range.
You know you're in problem when a 3.3 was the highest demo of the week.

7 hours...and the scary thing is that they are cutting back to *just* 7 hours. This past week does look to be their last in 'full strike effect mode', though. Maybe a return to firstrun programming can give them a boost?

Pretty sad, when your only highest rated show is a reality show. Shows what direction NBC is willing to head.

Congrats to Medium for being the top show of the week.
NBC really needs to leave L&O:CI, Monk, and Psych on cable next year.
