FX has renewed freshman drama Damages for seasons two and three, with an order for 26 additional episodes over the course of the next two years. Assuming the current writers strike is resolved, Damages is expected to go back into production for season two early next year in New York. Glenn Close, Rose Byrne and Tate Donovan are currently signed on as series regulars for season two.

Why for two seasons? I don't get it. I'm happy this show is renewed (although i'm not sure where the story will be going) but why for 2 season when the ratings were rather bad

Good to know. I thought I was going to hate it after episode 1, but I had set my DVR to record series, and so I watched the second week, and decided to give it one more chance . . . and the next thing I knew, it became addictive.

It didn't hurt that they film in my neighborhood, either. That always makes it fun.

Probably it was signed for two seasons because Tate Donovan, Glenn Close, and Rose Byrne are available now, and they'll probably film them back to back.

Obviously the Vulpines are happy enough with the ratings and with the positive reactions to the show from the critics. I'd very much suppose the audience is upscale, too--you did notice that the principal sponsor was Cadillac, did you not?

I like that FX takes risks with their shows. They renewed Dirt, which was horrible and it got renewed, although it did get good ratings.

Also, FX doesn't usually sign for 1 year. They usually sign for several years so the show can develop. Networks don't have that luxury, but FX has all of Fox behind it as well a lot of programming time to fill. If they can fill original programming that's a good thing.

Great show and I'm glad they're giving it another shot!
