So, yeah, there are tons of rumors flying about the fate of this show since the 16 year old starlet Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. Personally, I don't think that Nickelodeon should cancel the show--ABC didn't cancel Alias when Jennifer Garner got knocked up out of wedlock. If anything, they can delay production or have objects covering Zoey's midsection. Plus, Ms. Spears isn't the only person employed by the show. What are your thoughts?

I'm almost positive it will becanned.

The network doesn't want a pregnant 16 year old on a 12 year old network.

Zoey 101 was supposedly done anyway. If the show was already finished for the year and was already not returning in the future, then there is nothing to cancel.

Uh, its a little different when a 30 something WOMAN get pregnant and when a 16 YEAR OLD GIRL gets pregnant.

Plus, the audience for each show is completely different.

I don't think Disney wants to place a 16 year old MOM as a role model for one of its pre-teen shows.

I don't want to get into a Pro-Life Pro-Choice debate, but isn't it better that she's taking responsibility and not using abortion as her birth control method? Also, as I mentioned earlier, she isn't the only one who would be effected if the show didn't come back for it's planned final year. There are the other cast members and the crew.

My understanding was that the show already had its 'final year'. Do you have a cite to indicate that the program had been planned to go another year?

What she is doing about the pregnantcy is irrelevent. Its the perception that DISNEY is about, IMO. Heck, that what Hollywood IS ALL ABOUT... perception.

I agree. If I recall correctly, Melissa Joan Heart created a lot of controversy when she appeared in a bikini on a magazine. I recall that ABC (owned by Disney) made her apologize, I think Sabrina the Teenage Witch took a hit in the ratings, and got canceled. The WB picked it up, but there was still a big fallout from just a magazine cover because her character was suppose to be very wholesome. I can only imagine how fast the show would have been canceled had she been underage, unwed, and pregnant.

As for Jamie Lyn, I doubt that Nickelodeon or the people who buy ads on it, want her associated with them any more--unless viewership for her show suddenly sky rockets. Maybe if the show aired on a different network, they'd be okay with her unplanned teen pregnancy, but a family oriented/children's network, I doubt it. Expect it's cancellation.
