I really love Desperate Housewives but while watching this season it occured to me that Susan Mayer has just become dispensable. The whole Susan/Ian/Mike storyline is totally disconnected and definitely not fun to watch. Furthermore Teri Hatcher turns out to be a really bad actress...her facial expression at the end of last nights episode looked so terrible and just think about the lack of tears during the supermarket shooting.
What do you think? Should they get rid of Susan Mayer alias Teri Hatcher and introduce a new housewife?

Why is everyone attacking poor Terri Hatcher? As for the tears in the supermarket scene, an emmy winning actress once said some scenes are better without tears!
Her story with Ian is cute and who knows what is yet to come? If I had to pick the worst story, I'd have to go with Gabby.
I liked the scene of the guys hanging out...thought it was funny.
From my point of view the most important thing about a storyline is the viewer's interest in its outcome. Don't get me wrong, the Ian/Susan storyline might be cute...but do you really care about its outcome? Or even more importantly: Would something be missing from Desperate Housewives without it?

If Susan goes off into the sunset with Ian, that means there is no chance for Susan/Mike. I think most viewers want Susan and Mike together.
I second that! Susan and Mike were the emotional core of Season One... they were the ones on all the magazine spreads, the couple overone talked about. Why? Because it was hot. And because it worked. The two characters had their rough patches, then split after some Susan-addled ridiculousness in Season Two and (shudder) Karl... then they seem like they're getting back together and BAM! Car crash. And no he has no memory. I don't know a single DH viewer who isn't rooting for Susan and Mike to get back together. The question really can't be IF. It has to be WHEN. And once it happens, the numbers are going to rise, like the heat that couple exudes.

Totally agree with your assessment of the situation. Just because I don't like one storyline(which I don't like the Ian one either) doesn't mean that I want them to get rid of Susan(Teri Hatcher). I'm not enjoying this storyline right now however that doesn't mean I won't enjoy the next one she's in especially if it involves MIke. Too many are just so willing to give up on a show or character because they don't like one plotline. Don't give up on Susan(Teri) as I'm sure her character will rebound shortly. And when she does it will be hysterical and wild as she has been sometimes in the past.
I liked Sunday's episode with Susan and the butler.... Why someone would think getting rid of Susan would improve the show is beyond my understanding....
I will agree that the Susan storyline is the one that least interests me, but that doesn't mean that they should get rid of her. The stoyline with Mike in Season 1 is what carried the show, and they will probably get back together anyways...

yes, the gaby storyline is old. like someone had mentioned somewhere "its always the same thing, she fights with carlos, makes up with carlos, fights with carlos, makes up with carlos, &then goes and has sexual relationships with Jesse M.'s character." Plus, she wants to do movies now, KILL HER OFF.

Eva Langoria manages to make any storyline interesting as far as I'm concerned. She's by far, my favorite.... Last week with the teen models and overweight moms was great. And great to see Alec Mapa again. I'm sure I'm the only one who knows or cares about this, but Marc Cherry also created a short lived series that Alec Mapa was in called Some Of My Best Friends and his character was named Vern in that one as well.... but I've now officially digressed.
When the show first began, I liked Susan Mayer the most. But the on-off relationship between Susan and Mike got very old... even in the first season, the writers didn't build up to them getting together, and then broke them up again before putting them back together. And on top of this, it happened again several times in Season 2.
Still, I think the show needs Susan Mayer... she fulfils the more regular "girl next door" role on the show. Teri Hatcher does have good comedic timing, I think. I like the relationship between Susan and her daughter.
I do find her current storyline right now a bit dull, though. I hate amnesia plotlines.

Wow!!! I thought I was the only one who remembered that series. It starred Jason Bateman and Danny Nucci and was a small screen adaptation of the movie "Kiss me, Guido"where a macho straight male answers an ad for an apartment mistaking GWM for Guy with money instead of Gay white male. Hysterical movie--not so funny TV series. Alec was Jason's neighbor and friend upstairs who always made his entrance through the fire escape window.
I didn't know Marc Cherry wrote that??? HMMM!!!!You learn something new everyday.

To expand upon my digression, I was given the DVD of Some Of My Best Friends and thought it really was funny. There were about 3 unaired episodes and they were even better. I've introduced some of these episodes to some of my best friends and watched them several times and still enjoyed watching them repeatedly. OK, now back to Housewives talk.....
I think Teri Hatcher is a complete delight and joy to watch! No way do I think they should ever kill Susan off! She is the heart and soul of Desperate Housewives I believe.
