My question is this. Clearly the ratings for BIONIC WOMAN's debut were the CURIOSITY factor and subsequent weeks sent the show sliding down a course into oblivion.
So my question is...why would NBC greenlight a series for a new KNIGHT RIDER based on the ratings the telemovie got...my gut feeling is that 99% of the viewers tuned in again for the CURIOSITY factor and will not be sticking around to support it as a series.
Why does the NBC programming department not realize this?

Not endorsing the greenlighting of KR and I didn't see the telefilm so I don't have a feel if it was any good and can maintain interest.
But I did watch BW and there was a very wide consensus that the quality of the show was horrible. The acting and even the casting came into question, the show had major production and management problems, and the episode writing was mediocre to bad. These views were voiced not just by critics who were confirming their predictions but by all kinds of people who were very open to the show. In fact, some people were shocked that such a valued brand was handled so shabbily.
So I don't think NBC is gunshy about KR because of what happened with BW. Yes, initial tune in for these remakes is curiosity driven. But the same disaster does not have to happen again.
