Do you think that this is true with television right now? It seems like there are more dramatic/reality television shows on than comedy shows. Why do you think this may be happening? How is the internet having an impact on shows on television...specifically comedy? This is a topic I am writing on for my newswriting class. Please respond...I need all of the input I can get and if you feel comfortable putting your first and last name it would help since it's suppost to be a news article. Thanks!!

Yes, there are far less sitcoms now than just 7-8 years ago. NBC, at its peak, had about 16-18 comedies on its regular schedule.

Best guess on the decline of the sitcom was the overpopulation of below average or terrible series (Michael Richards Show).

Sonme day, hopefully real soon, the sitcome will have yet another comback. But Originallity, and being funny, will be key to its rise.

I'd rather see the rise of something like the Variety Hour shows that used to populate the networks.

We also need more lightweight series like Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Hotel, Murder She Wrote or Burke's Law that caters to lots of B, C and D list guest stars.
