I definitely agree it is a cheap knock off of American Idol. I will keep watching because I like singing shows, I like Grease a lot, and I like Broadway. I also think it is interesting that they are considering Sandy's against type, like overweight girls and other races. That could be interesting.
It wasn't as bad as it could be, but it did make me yearn for the real thing (i.e. American Idol in just 8 days!)

I enjoyed it - and this coming from one who is not an American Idol fan. I like the fact that they also have to dance and be more of an entire package. Although.... the fact that a 41 year old got called to Grease Camp is totally ridiculous. I was disappointed that Chicago couldn't have had better representation than that along with another guy that got zero airtime. Still, I'm surprised at myself for saying this, but I'm going to watch this again......

Why did America's got Talent do well last summer, but last version of Star Search do horrible?
Its almost a crap shoot with these type of shows. I guess thats why so many are attempted.
I don't recall the last version of Star Search doing "horrible". It did respectable ratings for awhile - very similar to America's Got Talent.

I've actually never watched a show with Billy Bush, but he is such a minor part of this show that I can't see how it matters. I'd prefer it if they had Brian Dunkleman -

Star Search's first season did well considering it was against Idol and shoved on Friday. The second season was thrown to the Saturday dogs and didn't do as well.

OK - it's a really annoying show, but I couldn't stop singing all the Grease songs in my apartment last night. (I was Rizzo one year and Marty in another). No, I'm not even a huge fan of most of the B'way shows out there these days, but I have to admit, I'll probably end up watching the next 2 episodes. (Yes, I actually DVR'd it. I know - appalling.)
Too bad John Travolta isn't stopping by for a visit. But Olivia Newton-John will be back next week.
