It continues to be a reality world! MyNetworkTV has finally announced its fall slate, and there’s nary a telenovela in sight!

Remember Fox’s 2003 "Big Brother" knock-off “Paradise Hotel”? With future professional model Charla Philstrom? And smitten Dave “Man-Boobs” Kerpen? And bug-eyed “Love Cruise” refugee Toni Ferrari? It returns on MyNet in March.

So is a new version of NBC’s lie-detector extravaganza “Meet My Folks.”

Returning to the MyNet Monday slate is “IFL Battleground.”

The netlet, forged in the orphan misery of the UPN/WB merger, is sticking with movies on Thursday and Friday nights.

All those reality shows except MMF quickly tanked...and MMF was declining. That's why it was ended. Those clinkers belong on Fox reality channel which is heaven TV for the few fans of that junk.

No wonder MyNet is so little-watched...

Actually Paradise Hotel did well, but after Fox flopped the following spring with Forever Eden, a far worse knockoff (at least from what we saw- x said it got better as it went along), Fox decided not to bring it back.

Junk? Actually, the appropriate term is "guilty pleasure", which is certainly what Paradise Hotel was.

Meet My Folks I never saw because the concept didn't appeal to me. I have never watched a dating type of reality show unless you count Blind Date. OK, and that train wreck called Playing It Straight too because well... I wanted to play along.... I think if they had all of America print out PIS Cards (OK, perhaps a better acronym was needed here), they could have had them circle their guesses to FOX and win $50,000 for those who picked out all the gays.

I really should take over for MyNetwork TV....

Yer post reminded me...

I saw somewhere a few weex back that Fox Reality was thinking of a 2nd season of PH on that net for 2008, but that nothing was yet definite. And, yes, you were right...it was modestly successful, especially given as how so many of that type show quickly tanked, such as "Forever Eden".

Wouldn't be shocked to see Fox Reality revive it, as they can show old eps of past shows only so many times before even the most diehard viewers tune out.

Actually, Fox reality will be airing the episodes with MNTV. Should be a blast in 08! Like Big Brother in the winter, only meaner!

Ah, Paradise Hotel...

...brings back memories of a buck-toothed Charla and the schluby Dave.

MNTV might as well revive Temptation Island while they're at it.
